Quality Custom Distribution (QCD), a wholly owned subsidiary of Golden State Foods, is seeking an experienced and driven Assistant Transportation Manager to help lead our transportation team in Washington, DC. In this role, you'll oversee day-to-day transportation operations, ensuring safety, compliance, efficiency, and outstanding customer service. Why QCD? Oversee and support daily transportation operations, including driver performance, routing, and on-time delivery (25%) Plan and schedule routes and resources in compliance with DOT regulations (20%) Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns and coordinate repairs with Penske leasing (15%) Motivate and support team members, fostering a positive work environment (20%) Supervise union employees, support conflict resolution, and administer discipline in partnership with leadership (10%) Maintain routing and tracking systems (e.g., Samsara, Paragon), and review driver data (10%)What You Bring:
Education:
High school diploma required; associate's degree preferredExperience:
3-6 years in transportation or food distribution, including union or non-union supervisory experienceSkills:
Knowledge of DOT/CSA regulations and safety practices Familiarity with on-board computer systems and routing software Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage up to 30+ drivers and staffTech-savvy:
Basic proficiency in MS Word/Excel and routing softwarePerformance Areas:
