Job Description

JOB The Fleet Manager is responsible for providing administrative and managerial support to a department or division. This role will supervise subordinate personnel, gather information and perform research on shop issues, tooling, new products, and safety regulations.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES A

Provides administrative and managerial support to a department or division. Gathers information and performs research on shop issues, tooling, new products, and safety regulations. Oversees and updates fleet maintenance computer and fuel systems. Monitors building maintenance and writes bid specifications for vehicles, equipment and services related to fleet.

Maintains fleet database and provides access and reports to Departments as requested.

Coordinates special projects.

Prepares equipment for disposal at auctions or scrap yards.

Trains Fleet Supervisor on planning and scheduling of repair and maintenance work by piece of equipment and employee skill level which includes determining work priorities, work assignments, and parts required to complete the repair. Supervises personnel which includes providing resources, completing performance evaluations, resolving personnel issues, and providing employee training. Responsible for storm water certification and compliance at 415 Stockbridge location.

Performs other related duties, as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
High School Diploma or G.E.D with up to one (1) year of specialized or technical training beyond High School with a concentration in Automotive, Heavy Equipment Maintenance or related field. Minimum of two (2) years of municipal experience and a minimum of (5) five years of fleet experience.

Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory, automotive and diesel mechanics, equipment repair, or related work experience. Commercial Driver's License, Class AState Mechanic's CertificationValid Michigan Driver's LicenseStorm Water Certification must be obtained within one (1) year.

State of Michigan Master Automotive and Master Heavy Duty Truck Certification.

Underground storage tank certification, Class A, must be obtained within one (1) year.

Demonstrated experience leading, developing and inspiring a team of professionals.

Demonstrated ability to develop relationships at all levels within an organization; excellent customer service and public relations skills.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrates a sense of urgency, prioritizes well, shows energy, responds to opportunities, instills urgency in others, and meets deadlines.
