Yard Marshall

Heda Transport is seeking independent contractors to serve as Yard Marshalls supporting our logistics and delivery operations across New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. This in-person position is based in Kearny, NJ and plays a vital role in coordinating truck movement, dispatching, and maintaining yard safety and flow. Yard Marshalls are a key point of contact between drivers, dispatchers, and leadership. The role requires strong communication skills, situational awareness, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced outdoor environment. Experience with logistics, trucking operations, or commercial vehicle dispatch is a strong plus.

Please Note:

This opportunity is for 1099 Independent Contractors, not employees. Contractors are responsible for managing their own taxes, insurance, and withholdings, and must comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations regarding independent work.

Compensation & Schedule:

Daily Rate:

$190 per day for the first 30 days; increases to $210/day after the introductory period

Schedule:

5 days per week, 12-hour shifts (day and night shifts available)

Kearny, NJ Key Responsibilities:

Dispatch and receive trucks within a busy yard environment Direct vehicle flow, monitor staging areas, and maintain yard organization Communicate with drivers, dispatchers, and leadership in real time Support DOT and company compliance procedures Ensure safety and efficiency of all yard operations Operate and maneuver 26 ft box trucks as needed Work outdoors in various weather conditions

Qualifications:

Valid DOT Medical Card 2 years of experience driving or maneuvering 26 ft box trucks Able to stand and walk for long periods (~12-hour shifts) Strong verbal communication and coordination skills Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently Comfortable working outdoors in all seasons Prior experience in logistics, dispatch, or trucking operations is a plus Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus Availability for evening and weekend shifts as needed

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required
