Job Description
Travelers Aid International (TAI) seeks an energetic, organized, and collaborative professional to fill the Program Manager position at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), overseeing a volunteer-based airport customer service and traveler assistance program. TAI is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., with a historic legacy and ongoing mission of assisting travelers at airports, train stations, and bus terminals. Our organization oversees several large airport volunteer programs and operations throughout the New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Connecticut, and Washington, D.C. regions. The Program Manager at EWR will oversee daily program operations, including management of staff and volunteers, fulfillment of contract requirements, and professional representation of the program with the public and airport stakeholders. This position is responsible for maintaining consistent volunteer staffing coverage during designated operational hours and ensuring a high level of customer service for travelers and visitors at Newark Liberty International Airport in accordance with contractual expectations. The ideal candidate is a dependable, hands-on leader with strong organizational and follow-through skills; experience managing staff and/or volunteers; and the ability to balance daily operational needs while supporting long-term program growth and success. The successful candidate will be proactive, solution-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced airport environment. This role requires someone who enjoys helping others, communicates effectively, handles stressful situations professionally, and can adapt quickly to changing operational priorities or airport needs. Responsibilities Oversee daily program operations and ensure consistent service delivery Lead and support staff, volunteers, and program partners to maintain successful operations Maintain active airport credentials and renewals for program personnel Ensure timely completion of reports, documentation, and administrative requirements Support volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and retention efforts Coordinate program schedules, activities, deadlines, and operational needs Maintain positive working relationships with airport stakeholders, and community partners Prepare reports and updates for the airport and TAI national organization Help maintain minimum operational coverage during staffing shortages, emergencies, or inclement weather conditions Represent the program professionally and positively in all public-facing interactions Qualifications & Skills Proven experience as a Program Manager or in a comparable leadership role Strong organizational, administrative, and follow-through skills Experience drafting, editing, and compiling reports and correspondence Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred Supplemental Qualifications Volunteer management experience Experience in hospitality, nonprofit, customer service, or social services environments Experience working with diverse populations International travel and/or additional language skills Interested candidates should submit a resume and brief cover letter explaining their interest in the position.
