Job Description

Blanchester Local Schools is seeking a dedicated, forward-thinking Transportation Supervisor to lead, inspire, and manage our district's vital transportation services. If you are a resilient leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about ensuring student safety and operational excellence, we want you on our team. As the Transportation Supervisor, you will report directly to the Superintendent and serve as a core member of our administrative team. In this role, you aren't just managing a fleet—you are driving the strategic vision of our transportation department. You will oversee daily operations, craft efficient bus routes, cultivate the leadership skills of your staff, and work collaboratively to meet the individualized needs of all students, including those with disabilities. From analyzing program indicators to align your budget with district goals to coordinating with the Ohio State Highway Patrol for annual inspections, your work will directly impact the community and the families we serve.
Key Responsibilities Lead & Empower:
Actively supervise, evaluate, and mentor transportation personnel while fostering a cohesive, mutually respectful team culture.
Ensure Safety First:
Oversee ongoing vehicle maintenance, verify driver licensing, monitor continuing education compliance, and implement robust bus safety programs. You will also monitor road and weather conditions to recommend service delays or cancellations when necessary.
Manage Operations & Compliance:
Direct the dissemination of routing info, handle emergency repairs, manage vendor relationships, and maintain meticulous procurement and department records. Engage the
Community:
Act as a proud ambassador for the district, utilizing digital and social media platforms to publicize program information, while using tact and diplomacy to build public support and resolve differences fairly. We are looking for an agile problem-solver with excellent time management skills who is ready to embrace high-performance standards. To qualify for this role, you must have: A valid Ohio driver's license and a clean driving record that qualifies for district vehicle insurance. A record free of criminal violations prohibiting public school employment. Full compliance with the personnel qualifications and training requirements outlined in Ohio Administrative Code 3301-83-06 and 3301-83-10. The flexibility to work a non-traditional schedule or irregular hours when operational needs or weather conditions arise. A steadfast commitment to defensive driving, student safety, and workplace health protocols. Working Conditions & Environment While the role's primary physical demand level is sedentary, the nature of school transportation means you will occasionally step out of the office. You should be comfortable navigating diverse environments, which may include encountering severe weather, operating or riding in district vehicles, and working near vehicular traffic.
