Job Description
Transportation Manager Classification:
Exempt Reports to: Operations Manager About us: Buckeye Fluid Solutions is a well-established underground injection disposal facility in Coshocton, Ohio. Formerly known as Buckeye Brine, the company recently rebranded to Buckeye Fluid Solutions to better reflect its expanded services for all non-hazardous wastewater generators. With over a decade of experience, Buckeye Fluid Solutions has earned a reputation for environmental security, reliability, data management systems, and exceptional customer service. The company's facilities and services are highly respected within the industry. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based at the Coshocton Plant location. The Transportation Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operation of the Company's transportation division, including driver supervision, scheduling and dispatch, fleet utilization, regulatory compliance, and coordination of transportation activities supporting customer and internal operations. The role has direct accountability for transportation costs, operational efficiency, and effective use of driver and equipment resources, and requires hands-on operational oversight and support consistent with the Company's 24/7 operations. Essential Functions & Duties Primary profit and loss responsibility for transportation operations, including oversight of labor utilization, equipment usage, and cost control Day-to-day leadership of transportation operations, including scheduling, dispatch, coverage planning, and direction of drivers to ensure efficient use of time and resources Coordination and operational support of customer projects, including meetings, site visits, and ongoing communication regarding project planning and service issues Oversees maintenance, inspection, and compliance programs for all vehicles Manages relationships with third-party carriers and other vendors Coordinates inbound scheduling Compliance with applicable federal and state DOT and environmental regulations including accurate and timely reporting Coordination of rail-truck transload operations and waste shipments between company facilities and third-party disposal sites, including purchasing and scheduling with carriers Purchases and schedules waste shipments to third-party disposal sites with contract carriers. Manages waste shipments between the company's two plants. Evaluation and coordination of equipment-related transactions, providing recommendations and operational support for purchases, rentals, and disposition of equipment. Recruitment, training, supervision, performance management, and safety oversight of drivers with a superior commitment to safety, environmental security, and customer service Collaborates with all levels of leadership to support company goals and initiatives Identifies and communicates operational priorities, issues, needs, and opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and effectiveness to leadership Operational support during nights and weekends as required Cross-trains and fills in as needed to support all business operations, growth initiatives, and legacy sites Key Competencies Knowledge of transportation operations and fleet management Working knowledge of federal and state DOT regulations and compliance requirements Strong leadership and supervisory skills Effective communication skills Sound judgment and decision making in operational settings Strong organizational and time management skills Problem-solving ability related to logistics, safety, and operational efficiency Ability to work independently Proficiency inMicrosoft Word and Excel License/Certifications:
Driver's License (Required) with an acceptable driving record, Class A CDL preferredSupervisory Responsibility:
This position supervises a small team of drivers.Work Environment:
This job operates both in a professional office environment and industrial field settings, including company facilities and customer locations. Work activities may occur indoors or outdoors and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, noise levels, and typical conditions associated with transportation and industrial operations. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and related devices.Physical and Mental Requirements:

The role requires the ability to move between office, yard, plant, and customer site environments to support transportation operations, as well as the ability to remain in stationary positions and move about work areas for extended periods as required by operational needs. The position also requires the ability to position oneself to observe vehicles, equipment, and work activities for purposes of oversight, safety, and compliance, and to use standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and other devices, to perform administrative and reporting functions. The role further requires the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize transportation activities across multiple drivers, sites, and schedules; analyze operational, compliance, and performance information; and apply established procedures and regulations. The employee must be able to make timely decisions in dynamic operational environments, communicate clearly and effectively with drivers, customers, vendors, and leadership, and maintain focus while managing multiple tasks and interruptions related to operational demands.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with hours that vary with the demands of the Company's customers and our 24/7 operations. Although typical daylight office hours will be the norm, variations will be frequent and unpredictable.Travel:
This position requires approximately 20% travel with minimal overnight travel.Other Duties:
