Unit Secretary/Transportation Coordinator Suburban Healthcare and Rehabilitation - 1.7 Warrensville Heights, OH Job Details Full-time $16 - $18 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Life insurance Qualifications HIPAA State Tested Nursing Assistant Patient service Administrative experience Clerical experience Medical terminology Long term acute care Full Job Description Unit Secretary/Transportation Coordinator - Skilled Nursing Facility The Unit Secretary/Transportation Coordinator is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to the nursing department while coordinating resident transportation and scheduling for outside appointments and services. This position serves as a liaison between nursing staff, residents, families, physicians, hospitals, transportation vendors, and outside providers to ensure efficient daily operations and quality resident care. The ideal candidate must be organized, detail-oriented, professional, and able to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Answer and direct phone calls in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to nursing staff and management.
  • Schedule and coordinate resident transportation for medical appointments, dialysis, therapy, hospital visits, consultations, and outside services.
  • Communicate with transportation companies, physician offices, hospitals, pharmacies, labs, residents, and families regarding appointments and transportation arrangements.
  • Maintain and update resident charts, physician orders, appointment schedules, and unit documentation.
  • Prepare and organize paperwork for appointments, transportation, admissions, discharges, transfers, and consultations.
  • Verify appointment dates, times, transportation arrangements, and required paperwork prior to scheduled visits.
  • Ensure residents are prepared and ready for transportation pick-up times.
  • Monitor transportation logs, schedules, and follow-up appointments.
  • File, copy, fax, scan, and maintain accurate documentation in accordance with facility policies and state/federal regulations.
  • Maintain nursing station and office supplies and assist with unit organization.
  • Support communication between departments to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents, families, visitors, staff, and outside providers.
  • Perform other administrative duties as assigned by nursing management or administration.
Qualifications:
  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced nursing home environment.
  • Previous healthcare, scheduling, transportation, or clerical experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical records preferred.
  • Proficient in computer systems, phone systems, and office equipment.
STNA Prerferred Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
