Full Job Description Job Title:
Fleet Manager Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Fleet Manager to oversee the maintenance, performance, and regulatory compliance of our fleet operations in a fast-paced waste and recycling environment. This role is responsible for ensuring maximum uptime of vehicles and equipment, managing maintenance personnel, controlling costs, and supporting safe, efficient operations across all lines of business. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, mechanical knowledge, and experience managing heavy-duty truck fleets (e.g., front-load, roll-off, and residential collection vehicles). Key Responsibilities Oversee daily operations of fleet maintenance, including preventative maintenance and repairs Manage and lead maintenance staff, including mechanics and welders Develop and implement maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend asset life Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including Department of Transportation (DOT) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (US federal agency") (OSHA) Monitor fleet performance metrics and implement improvements for efficiency and cost control Manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, and purchasing for maintenance needs Oversee inspections and ensure vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards Coordinate with operations to prioritize repairs and maintain service schedules Track and control maintenance costs, budgets, and capital expenditures Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and compliance documentation Support accident investigations and implement corrective actions Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of fleet management experience (waste industry experience preferred) Strong knowledge of diesel mechanics and heavy equipment maintenance Experience managing teams in a maintenance or shop environment Familiarity with DOT regulations, fleet compliance, and safety standards Proficiency with fleet management or maintenance tracking software Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment Preferred Qualifications Experience in waste, recycling, or transportation industry CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is a plus ASE certification or similar technical credentials Work Environment Combination of office and shop/yard environment Exposure to weather, noise, and heavy equipment May require occasional after-hours or weekend availability to support operations
Compensation & Benefits Salary Range:
