Job Description
About the Role PKG Delivery Systems is opening a new FedEx Ground terminal in the Tri-Cities region and we need a Terminal Manager to run it. This is not a generic logistics role — this is a full operational ownership position. You will run the terminal day-to-day with full autonomy, supported remotely by ownership based in the Northeast. If you have been a Business Contact at another CSP, a senior dispatcher who is ready to step up, or a logistics operations manager who wants to run their own show, this is the right opportunity. What You Will Be Responsible For Operations Daily route assignments, dispatch, and start-of-day operations Driver scheduling, time-off management, peak season planning Vehicle maintenance scheduling and DOT compliance Roadside inspection readiness Quarterly terminal inspection preparation Driving and route coverage when needed People Recruiting, hiring, and onboarding drivers — this is a critical part of the role Driver coaching, performance management, corrective action Building a positive terminal culture in a tough labor market Managing a Lead Driver and a small team of 12-20 drivers as we scale FedEx Relationship Daily interaction with FedEx senior managers and ops staff Service Provider Results Summary (SPS) review monthly Maintaining Gold or Silver Medal status on the FedEx scorecard Customer relationship management for problem accounts Financial Managing driver payroll within budget Hitting operational profit targets Reporting daily/weekly to PKG ownership What This Role Is NOT This is not a desk job. You will be at the terminal daily — probably 7:00 or 7:30 AM most days during start-of-day, and back at the end of the day to debrief drivers and handle issues. You will not be running routes regularly (we have a Lead Driver for that), but you will be hands-on in the operation. This is also not a heavily supervised role. PKG ownership is in the Northeast — we will do weekly calls, daily check-ins as needed, and visit periodically, but the day-to-day decisions are yours. We need someone we can trust to run the operation like an owner. Compensation Detail Base Salary $58,000-$62,000: Solid candidates with operations background, learning the FedEx Ground system $62,000-$70,000: Experienced terminal managers with proven autonomy, FedEx Ground experience Performance Bonus Structure (Up to $16,000 Per Year) FedEx Medal performance: up to $7,000 (monthly + annual stretch) Operational profit: up to $3,000 (quarterly) Driver retention: up to $2,000 (annual) Safety outcomes: up to $2,000 (quarterly) Quarterly terminal inspections: up to $1,000 Recruiting and pipeline quality: up to $1,000 (annual) Benefits Paid time off and paid holidays Cell phone allowance Mileage reimbursement for any required travel Direct deposit What We Are Looking For Required 3+ years in operations management, logistics, or last-mile delivery Demonstrated ability to manage a team independently Strong written and verbal communication Comfortable with technology — scanner systems, scheduling software, basic spreadsheets Valid driver's license with clean driving record Able to pass background check and drug screen Must have or be willing to obtain a DOT Medcard (Company Pays for Medical Examination) Strongly Preferred FedEx Ground CSP experience (BC, Lead, senior dispatcher, or contractor) — this shortens your ramp time substantially Experience hiring and managing hourly workforce in a tight labor market Familiarity with FedEx scorecard, MEDALS program, and SPS reporting Helpful DOT regulatory knowledge Tri-Cities area familiarity Prior P&L responsibility What Makes a Good Fit This role suits someone who: Wants ownership and autonomy, not a corporate ladder Can think operationally AND people-first — you will be measured on driver retention as well as financial performance Is comfortable making decisions without daily oversight Wants to grow with a company that is expanding Can stay calm during peak season chaos (Nov-Dec is intense) This role is not for someone who: Wants strict 9-to-5 hours Needs a large team supporting them Avoids difficult conversations (corrective action, customer escalations, FedEx pushback) Why This Role, Why Now PKG Delivery Systems is established (operating since 2021) and growing. We have proven operational systems, a Gold-status FedEx contract relationship, and a clear playbook from our Northeast terminals. We are not asking you to figure it out from scratch. The Tri-Cities area is our first expansion outside the Northeast. Whoever takes this role will help shape how we operate in new markets — there is real opportunity here to grow with the company as we add additional Tennessee, North Carolina, or Georgia terminals over the coming years.
