Job Summary Review EXED transportation requests and work collaboratively with Transportation Routing to assign students to appropriate buses. Works directly with the Customer Service Representatives and Family Information Center to address Special Needs Students' Family Concerns. Serves as a liaison between the Transportation Department and Exceptional Education Department to coordinate transportation services for students with Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) while ensuring all eligible students receive transportation services in accordance with established laws, policies and procedures. What you will do Directly manage approximately 3 Transportation Supervisors, while indirectly supervising approximately 150 Bus Drivers and Bus Monitors. Coordinates transportation needs between the Transportation Department and the Department of Exceptional Education, for daily route service and midday routes. Investigate complaints and allegations related to sexual harassment and bullying (Code Red). Review transportation requests, bus rosters and complete bus driver's assignments. Collect Data, Monitor Transportation Schedules, and Ensure Student Bus Routes are effective, efficient, and adhere to safety regulations while working with Transportation Supervisors to ensure arrivals and departures for all routes are on time. Recommend changes to exceptional education routes and schedules as needed. Coordinate with Supervisors any needs for Drivers' Buses or Route Changes. Coordinate requests for bus drivers in need of a Bus monitor. Manage State Required School Bus Driver Safety Concern Line reports within MNPS expectations and guidelines. Manages employee corrective actions, and make recommendations to the Director of Transportation, according to the MNPS Employee Relations Support Employee Play Book. Evaluate and Review employee performance reports annually for Direct Reports, Drivers and Monitors. Collaborate with leadership team to develop professional training programs for Bus Drivers and Support Staff, focusing on Safety and Customer Service Excellence by preparing PowerPoint and other audio/visual and hands on activities. Evaluate, recommend, purchase and maintain supplies of safety and restraint equipment required for special need student transportation. Manages transportation in alternative vehicles via contract services. Knowledgeable on Local, State, and Federal Transportation Regulations, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws. Responsible for Extra Programs assigned, to include, but not limited to Evening Routes, Saturday School Routes, Field Trips, to include, but not limited to, billing and payroll processes. Serves as a member of the District Snow Patrol team. Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Required Experience Qualifications Experience with student transportation Preferred Skills and Abilities The successful candidate should also possess strong management and collaboration skills, exemplary written and oral communication skills, detailed oriented and a solid working knowledge of the IEP process and transportation. Knowledge of school bus operation principles and techniques. Excellent interpersonal, public relations, and communication skills. Ability to courteously deal with the public and other school and governmental officials. Ability to handle stressful situations with poise and confidence. Ability to use sound judgment in making decisions. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of other employees.
