Director of Fleet Management Child Development Schools - 2.9 San Antonio, TX Job Details 1 day ago Qualifications Supervising experience Full Job Description Job Summary The Director of Fleet provides strategic leadership to the third-party fleet provider for the acquisition, operations, and maintenance of the organization's 700 plus fleet of motor vehicles. This role is responsible for aligning fleet strategy with school operations goals related to student safety, services and reliability. The Director of Fleet serves as a key advisor to operations leadership, ensuring data-driven decisions that optimize fleet performance, manage risk, and support long-term transportation needs. Essential Functions Major Tasks . Oversee the third-party provider of fleet services. . Monitoring the third-party provider on safety, reliability and review KPI on a monthly basis. . Continuous improvement in reliability and tracking locations of fleet vehicles . Develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-year fleet strategy aligned with school operations enrollment trends, transportation demand, and capital planning . Lead long-term asset lifecycle planning, including lease vs buy replacement schedules, capacity planning, and standardization of equipment . Integrate fleet planning with operations strategic initiatives, including sustainability, equity of service, and operational resilience . Establish and monitor strategic performance indicators to drive continuous improvement . Oversee the fleet O&M and Capital budget . Ensures department milestones/goals are met and adhered to approved budgets . Analyze total cost of ownership, lifecycle costs, and funding scenarios to support long-term financial sustainability . Develop business cases for major fleet investments, including bus replacements, facility upgrades, and new technologies . Establish a governance framework to ensure ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local pupil transportation regulations . Oversee risk management strategies related to vehicle safety, inspections, accidents, and liability exposure . Lead evaluation and implementation of fleet technologies, including maintenance management systems, telematics, and data analytics .
