PRIMARY PURPOSE
Assist the department in providing safe and dependable transportation to the students of Tomball ISD, by overseeing and providing support of daily operations, school bus safety, and student management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licenses/Certification High School Diploma/GED Certified TAPT Pupil Transportation Supervisor Possess and maintain a Texas CDL-B or A with P & S endorsement with acceptable driving record as measured by the School Bus Driver's Record Evaluation criteria. Reasonable Suspicion certification or obtain within six (6) months of hire Special Knowledge/Skills Proficient computer skills in Microsoft applications and applicable transportation software Excellent organizational, communication, team, and interpersonal skills Possess qualities of leadership necessary to supervise and schedule employees under their direction Ability to prioritize tasks, manage budget, maintain required documentation, and handle conflict resolution Serves as a liaison in maintaining good rapport with students, parents, campuses, and community Ensures student transportation routes and schedules comply with district policy Experience Three (3) years of progressive experience in the field of Student Transportation Three (3) years supervision of at least 50 employees
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Assist in overseeing and providing support for daily performance of drivers and attendants Supervise and assist drivers/attendants in the understanding of department policies and procedures Supervise and assist drivers/attendants in setting up and maintaining paperwork responsibilities Review and approve driver/attendant time entry for accuracy and completeness for payroll Must establish, monitor, and maintain regular and reliable attendance records Maintain absentee records on drivers/attendants in accordance with district policy Communicates job performance expectations to the drivers and attendants Transportation Supervisor 8. Assist in conducting job evaluations on drivers/attendants Recommend future training options and improvement plans for the department to Director, Assistant Director, and other staff Develop and maintain Transportation Center parking charts and school loading zone bus lineups Develop and foster positive staff morale within the Transportation Department Conducts surveys as directed by appropriate personnel Perform disaster duty as needed (hurricanes, storms, earthquakes, etc.) Assists Director and Assistant Director at all accident scenes involving students and/or district vehicles Perform as a substitute driver/attendant as needed Communicate to the general public the goals and objectives of the Transportation Department Acts on behalf of the Director and Assistant Director in his/her absence Handle all student discipline grades PK-12 on home-to-school and activity trip buses. Communicating with appropriate school staff
EQUIPMENT USAGE
Computers, copiers, telephones, fax machines, 2-ways radios, cell phones, gym mats (for evacuation practice), school buses (regular and special education), fuel pumps, and minor shop equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control; maintain effective communication with staff and supervisors; use reasoning skills to solve problems; complete work within time schedules and meet deadlines.
Physical Demand/Environmental Factors:
Frequent district wide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; ability to operate and ride on motor vehicles used by the district.
