07/01/2027 Transportation Coordinator (Activities) Aspen Peaks School District in American Fork, UT is hiring for the position of Transportation Coordinator. This position manages student transportation services for students, assigns drivers to routes and activities, and assigns substitute drivers to routes when needed. This includes supervising bus drivers and other assigned transportation personnel, scheduling routes, addressing concerns from students, parents, or employees, sharing information with others, and helping train new and current drivers. Priority will be given to candidates who have school transportation leadership experience, work well with others, are approachable, treat coworkers kindly, lead confidently, and make smart decisions.

Essential Functions Assesses incidents, complaints and/or accidents for the purpose of monitoring bus driver performance, resolving or recommending a resolution to the event and providing a formal review of accidents. Assigns bus drivers to routes and field trips for the purpose of matching drivers' qualifications with assignment requirements and ensuring optimal utilization of personnel. Assists in providing training of school bus drivers for the purpose of evaluating and reviewing bus drivers job knowledge and complying with state requirements. Coordinates with other District personnel (e.g. school administrators, teacher, summer staff, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining required transportation services. Evaluates bus routes (e.g. loading zone safety, road conditions, time requirements, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that routes can be completed in a safe and efficient manner. Maintains personnel records and other mandated information which is required for the purpose of meeting regulatory requirements. Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Performs routine monitoring of driver performance for the purpose of identifying potential training needs and ensuring performance is meeting established standards and expectations. Performs personnel administrative functions (e.g. hiring and termination recommendations, evaluation of employees, assisting in training, supervising, scheduling, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, enhancing productivity of personnel and ensuring department/program outcomes are achieved. Prepares a variety of materials (e.g. reports, memos, letters, procedures, manuals, payroll authorizations, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information in compliance with established regulatory and reporting guidelines. Processes documents and materials (e.g. payroll, etc.) for the purpose of disseminating information in compliance with administrative guidelines and/or regulatory requirements. Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the District's transportation service goals and objectives. Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external parties (e.g. staff, parents, students, public agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing information, facilitating communication among parties, providing direction, and/or resolving identified issues with an emphasis on providing good customer service. Responds to emergencies including after hours field trip requirements for the purpose of addressing immediate safety and /or scheduling concerns. Responds to complaints that may be related to driver performance, student behavior and/or route schedules for the purpose of prioritizing and identifying those issues to be addressed in accordance with established procedures. Supervises bus drivers and bus attendants for the purpose of ensuring their performance meets established standards. Supports Director in various activities (e.g. monitoring overall performance of services; recommendations regarding equipment purchases, budget, and personnel;, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring services are provided in an efficiently and timely manner. Responds to after-hours, weekend, and emergency transportation situations as needed. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in student transportation operations, driver training, transportation coordination, or related field. Experience conducting driver training, evaluations, or CDL testing. Experience coordinating with school administrators and staff to meet transportation needs. Ability to navigate challenging situations calmly and professionally without damaging relationships Proven track record of building and motivating high-performing teams Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on innovative, practical solutions Experience managing budgets and resources effectively Bilingual /
Second Language Proficiency Preferred Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL), Class B or higher, with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. Utah Third-Party Tester Certification (or ability to obtain within a district-established timeframe). Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate. First Aid and CPR Certification. Criminal Background Clearance. Drug and Alcohol Testing Compliance.
