The job of Transportation Fleet Manager is done for the purpose/s of supervising maintenance and repair services and activities; overseeing assigned personnel; providing information to others; and scheduling work assignments within established timeframes and standards. Essential Functions Communicates with administrators, personnel and outside organizations for the purpose of monitoring regulatory requirements, resolving issues and conflicts and exchanging information related to vehicle maintenance operations. Coordinates with maintenance personnel (e.g. scheduling of assignments, advising of processes, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring work and workplace safety, compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining vehicles in good repair order to address transportation services. Evaluates vehicle maintenance program and routine activities for the purpose of ensuring that maintenance services are conducted in conformance to established regulatory requirements and industry standards. Monitors related financial activity of maintenance services for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, expenses are within budget limits and/or fiscal practices are followed. Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Performs a variety of personnel functions (e.g. hiring/termination recommendations, planning / scheduling / coordinating activities, training, advising, consulting, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that maintenance services are provided in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with industry standards. Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. maintenance reports, accident reviews, memos, letters, procedures, manuals, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information in accordance with established practices. Recommends policies, procedures and/or actions for the purpose of providing direction for meeting the transportation maintenance service objectives. Researches vehicle maintenance requirements, new equipment, etc. for the purpose of ensuring compliance with relevant requirements, securing general information for planning, and/or responding to requests. Responds to emergency situations and bus accidents for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns, taking appropriate action to resolve situation, and identifying issues to be addressed that may lead to prevention of future incidents. Schedules vehicle maintenance activities and/or projects for the purpose of delivering services in compliance with established guidelines. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
