Job Description The Transportation Supervisor oversees daily transportation operations, including route execution, driver coordination, dock support, and fleet readiness. This role ensures efficient, safe, and cost-effective movement of goods while maintaining service levels for stores, donation sites, and warehouse operations. Supervises drivers, dock staff, and related personnel, and works cross-functionally to optimize route performance, labor utilization, and operational flow. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Supervise daily transportation and dock operations, including route execution, loading and unloading, staging, and movement of goods. Assign and adjust daily work based on volume, staffing, priorities, and operational needs. Coordinate route schedules, dispatch communication, and service recovery to ensure on-time completion and minimize service disruptions. Maintain accountability for route completion, dock flow, labor deployment, and execution quality. Lead safe work practices, including vehicle and forklift safety, PPE compliance, incident reporting, and corrective action follow-up. Ensure completion of required inspections, logs, and documentation, and escalate issues as needed. Support fleet readiness by coordinating maintenance, repairs, and equipment availability Maintain dock organization, staging discipline, and load quality to support efficient flow between transportation, warehouse, stores, and donation operations. Coach, train, and hold team members accountable for safety, attendance, productivity, service, and SOP compliance. Support hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and performance management processes. Manage staffing coverage, control overtime, and support cross-training to maintain operational continuity. Monitor daily operations, identify issues, and respond quickly to disruptions such as breakdowns, call-offs, weather, or volume spikes. Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to resolve issues and maintain service levels. Protect company assets through proper handling, documentation, and escalation of risks, discrepancies, or policy concerns. Perform other related duties as assigned. Demonstrate urgency, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through in a fast-paced environment. Maintain strong service support for stores, donation operations, and warehouse teams through effective communication and responsiveness. Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with periods of high activity and operational stress. Must communicate clearly in English and interact cordially and productively with a variety of people. Must support Goodwill's mission and represent the organization professionally in the community when interacting with donors, stores, and partners. Must observe safety policies and maintain compliance in all phases of the operation. Ability to lift 50 pounds, up to 100 pounds with assistance.
