ABOUT THE JOB
Industrial Metal Supply, founded in 1948, is a leading metals distributor with seven (7) locations serving California and Arizona. Joining our dynamic team will put you on the forefront of our company mission to solidify our position as the industry's One Stop Shop and resource for All Things Metal. As a key contributor to our operations team, you will manage a region of branches and be a partner, with branch associates, branch management, and external customers. This role combines leadership, organizational skills, and quality control methodologies to ensure operational excellence and compliance with company standards and fulfills all responsibilities in an honest, ethical, and professional manner.RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
Plan, schedule, direct and control the timely shipment of outbound orders Coordinate incoming pick-up of material for customer service Responsible for UPS shipments Hire and train drivers on safety, daily and situational protocols, proper tie-down techniques, customer service, and order/delivery documentation. Monitor and assess the quality of delivery performance indicators for trucks. Improve on in-house transportation processes to increase efficient on-time and low-cost operation. Direct preventive maintenance program of trucks. Maintain a list of drivers' valid license and medical card. Has a full understanding of CHP Pull Notice Program and DOT requirements. Responsible for the drivers completing the Daily Driver Log when they drive over 100 miles or over 12 hours. Records must be kept and accessible for 6 months. Responsible for drivers completing the daily truck maintenance checklist each morning prior to leaving the yard to make deliveries. Communicate during the day with drivers to: Provide driver support with customers Coordinate the schedule of second runs or pickups Answer any safety questions that may arise while making deliveries Investigate IMS driver/truck incidents including legal citations or tickets in the course of delivery, accidents, property damage caused by trucks and material falling off the truck. Provides informal and formal counseling sessions with drivers as needed. Provides periodic feedback and evaluation of the performance of drivers in accordance with IMS policy. Ability to organize daily responsibilities for maximum effectiveness. Ability to take ownership of, and focus on critical initiatives. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely Ability to interact effectively and across diverse cultures Strong detail orientation and understanding of safe work processes and procedures Strong customer, quality and results orientation Be teachable and be able to follow detailed instructions Know when to ask for help in completing tasks.
