Lead the Crew. Protect the Public. Build What Matters. As a Crew Lead based out of our Holly Hill, FL office, you'll help maintain the roadways and highways people depend on—keeping communities safe, connected, and moving forward . This isn't a sit‑behind‑a‑desk job. It's a hands‑on leadership role where you guide a skilled crew, make real decisions in the field, and solve problems that matter. You'll build technical skills, grow as a leader, and be trusted to run your site efficiently and safely. What You'll Do Lead & Inspire Lead a small, hardworking maintenance crew and set the tone for safety, quality, and teamwork every day. Plan the day's work, assign tasks, and coach your crew in the field. Train new team members, encourage cross‑training, and help people grow their skills. Address performance issues professionally and escalate when needed Own Safety & Operations Start each shift with tailgate talks and job hazard analyses. Set up and manage work zone traffic control to MUTCD and state standards . Ensure PPE compliance and stop work if conditions become unsafe. Protect your crew, the traveling public, and yourself — always. Get Hands‑On with Real Work You and your team will tackle impactful maintenance projects, including: Vegetation and landscape maintenance (mowing, trimming, brush cutting). Drainage and stormwater upkeep (ditches, culverts, erosion control). Asphalt pothole patching and small pavement repairs. Guardrail, attenuator, fence, and sign repair and replacement. Concrete repairs near sidewalks, bridges, and overpasses. Litter and debris removal to restore clean, safe roadways. Run the Equipment & Assets Operate and direct skid steers, mini‑excavators, mowers, tractors, forklifts, UTVs, and trailers. Drive company trucks, tow arrow boards, and ensure DOT compliance. Perform equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance. Keep tools, vehicles, and job sites clean, organized, and ready to work. Be the Go‑To Professional Communicate respectfully with supervisors, inspectors, clients, and the public. Complete work orders, timekeeping, and materials tracking digitally. Upload before‑and‑after photos and keep accurate records. Step up for after‑hours emergency response and on‑call rotations (storms, debris, incidents). What It Takes to Succeed You'll Bring Natural leadership instincts and confidence to make field decisions A safety‑first mindset and comfort working near live traffic. Solid experience in highway maintenance, construction, or civil work. The ability to adapt, problem‑solve, and keep your crew moving Physical & Work Environment Work outdoors year‑round in all weather conditions. Lift up to 50 lbs., work on uneven terrain, and stay active throughout the day. Availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency response when necessary. Qualifications Required 23+ years old (due to insurance policy coverage requirements) Valid United States Driver's License with a clean MVR. Ability to obtain Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certification (training provided). Five (5) years of highway maintenance, construction, or inspection experience ( Education may substitute for experience ) Ability to pass required background, MVR, and drug & alcohol screenings. Ability to respond to after-hours emergency call-outs Preferred Prior crew lead or supervisory experience. CDL Experience working under DOT standards. Familiarity with electronic work‑order, asset management, or MRP systems. Current MOT or Traffic Control Supervisor certification.
