Position Summary The Crew Lead is responsible for leading daily tree care operations while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. This position serves as the on-site leader for assigned crews and is accountable for jobsite safety, crew performance, customer satisfaction, equipment management, and overall job execution. The ideal candidate is a proven leader who leads by example, takes ownership of results, and embodies the core values of Reliable Tree Service. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Crew Management Lead, supervise, and mentor crew members. Conduct daily safety meetings and job briefings. Assign tasks and manage workflow throughout the day. Train team members on proper tree care techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures. Foster a positive, professional, and accountable team culture. Maintain productivity while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. Safety & Risk Management Maintain responsibility for the safety of crew members, customers, and property. Conduct jobsite hazard assessments before work begins. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, ANSI Z133 standards, and company safety policies. Verify proper use of PPE and safe operation of all equipment. Stop work when unsafe conditions exist and immediately report incidents or near misses. Tree Care Operations Execute and oversee tree pruning, removals, rigging, climbing, stump grinding, and emergency storm work. Ensure all work meets company standards and customer expectations. Make sound field decisions regarding work methods and job execution. Maintain a high level of workmanship, efficiency, and attention to detail. Equipment & Vehicle Management Perform daily inspections of trucks, chippers, chainsaws, climbing gear, rigging equipment, and other company assets. Maintain clean, organized, and professional equipment and vehicles. Report maintenance issues promptly and ensure equipment is properly cared for and secured. Customer Service Serve as the primary on-site representative of Reliable Tree Service. Communicate professionally with customers before, during, and after work. Review job scope, answer questions, and address concerns. Ensure every jobsite is left clean, safe, and exceeds customer expectations. Accountability & Ownership Take ownership of crew performance, safety, and job quality. Protect the reputation of Reliable Tree Service through professionalism and integrity. Promote efficiency while minimizing waste, equipment damage, and avoidable costs. Develop future leaders through coaching, mentoring, and training. QualificationsRequired 3+ years of professional tree care experience. Previous leadership or crew supervision experience. Proficiency in tree pruning, removals, rigging, climbing, and aerial operations. Strong knowledge of tree care safety practices. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Preferred CDL Class A or B. ISA Certified Arborist. CTSP Certification. First Aid/CPR Certification. Utility line clearance or crane experience. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly. Ability to climb trees and work at heights. Ability to safely operate chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and other equipment. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
