Field crew foreman/crew leader

Welders Wally's Iron Works Inc is a privately-owned, family-owned business located in Mount Airy, MD. We are a full-service metal fabrication shop that specializes in the fabrication of custom metal products for commercial and residential projects. We are a fast-paced, growing company and we are looking for a Welder to join our team.

Job Summary:

Field Crew Foreman / Crew Leader for the installation of stairs, railings, light structural steel, and misc. metals for new multi-family home construction, car dealerships, façade renovations, and private residential homes.

AWS SMAW 3G&4G

certifications a plus. Proficient reading shop drawings and blueprints. Welders/Installers work as a team on projects in MD, northern VA, and surrounding areas. Clean driving record is a MUST.

Responsibilities:

MUST HAVE PREVIOUS STEEL EXPERIENCE

• Valid welding certification a plus. Experience reading and interpreting plans/blueprints, Problem solving, Site work/Field experience.
• Instruct and organize crews, tools, materials and installation of stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metals.
• Layout materials from shop drawings & proactively direct employees for the installation of materials are following jobsite and company safety regulations.
• Monitor the maintenance of service truck(s), welders, tools, and equipment and inform Operations Manager of any issues.
• Responsible for the timely completion of Daily Field reports, Safety reports, Time and Material tickets and any other documents required by the General Contractor.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA general industry regulations, PPE requirements, crane and rigging protocols, and all applicable safety standards.

Qualifications:

• Experience in the misc. metals field for a minimum of 5+ years preferred
• Supervisory experience preferred
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules and procedures, Operator's Manuals, and maintenance instructions
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Understanding of angles and degrees
• Current welder certifications or ability to pass weld test
