Our work from ecosystem ponds and pondless waterfalls to streams and full outdoor living spaces is built on craftsmanship and care. We're growing and looking for a driven Crew Lead to help build the team that builds Charlotte's most beautiful backyard escapes. The Role As Crew Lead, you will run day-to-day field operations on water feature construction and renovation projects. You'll lead a small crew of 2-4 laborers, coordinate directly with the owner on project details, and be the boots-on-the-ground person responsible for quality, safety, and schedule. Projects typically run 4 days to 2 weeks. What You'll Do Lead and motivate a crew of 2-4 field technicians on pond construction, repair, and maintenance jobs Operate excavation equipment (mini-excavator, skid steer) and direct manual excavation and grading Install pond liners, Aquascape equipment (pumps, skimmers, biofalls), rock, and gravel per design specs Integrate landscaping elements (boulders, aquatic plants, edging) to complete the natural look Troubleshoot on-site challenges and make sound judgment calls to keep projects on track Maintain tools, equipment, and the company truck - report anything that needs attention Coach and teach crew members proper techniques; set the standard for quality and work ethic Communicate daily progress updates to the owner and flag any issues early Ensure job sites are left clean, safe, and client-ready at end of each day
What We're Looking For Required:
2+ years of hands-on experience in landscaping, hardscaping, construction, or comparable blue collar/manual labor field Ability to lead and hold a crew accountable in a field environment Physical fitness: This role involves heavy lifting (50+ lbs), digging, hauling rock, and working outdoors in all weather Valid NC driver's license with a clean record (you will drive the company truck and pull a trailer) Reliable, punctual, and takes pride in the work Preferred (but not required. We will train the right person): Experience with pond, water feature, or irrigation installation Familiarity with Aquascape systems Mini-excavator or skid steer operating experience Basic plant knowledge
Compensation & Benefits Pay:
$22-$26/hr depending on experience
Schedule:
Monday-Saturday, project-based hours (typically 8 AM-5 PM)
Equipment:
Company truck, tools, and safety gear provided
Training:
Aquascape certification training offered for the right candidate
