Experienced Hardscape Crew Leader Our Land Organics is an ecological landscape design/build company serving residential clients throughout the Cincinnati region. We build landscapes that work with nature, using organic practices, native plants, thoughtful design, and skilled craftsmanship. We are hiring an experienced Hardscape Crew Leader to lead a small installation crew on residential hardscape and landscape projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in quality work, communicates clearly, and wants to be part of a smaller company where craftsmanship, ecological values, and team culture matter.
Compensation:
$27-$33/hour depending on experience, leadership ability, and hardscape skill level. Highly experienced candidates may be considered above this range.
Schedule:
Full-time, Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM-4:00 PM. Overtime may be available or required based on project needs.

Position Summary The Experienced Hardscape Crew Leader is responsible for leading a small installation crew on residential landscape and hardscape projects. This person will help lead the layout and installation of patios, stone steps, walls, pathways, garden spaces, planting areas, grading, and related landscape construction work. This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be expected to work alongside the crew, guide and train team members, communicate clearly with the Operations Manager, solve problems in the field, and help ensure each project is completed safely, efficiently, and to Our Land Organics' quality standards. While this position is primarily focused on hardscape and landscape installation, the person in this role may also support landscape maintenance services, low-voltage landscape lighting, seasonal cleanups, planting care, and other property stewardship work as needed. person crew on residential hardscape and landscape installation projects Interpret landscape plans, job notes, scopes of work, and layout details Lead layout and installation of patios, walls, steps, pathways, garden beds, planting areas, drainage features, grading, and related landscape construction Perform hands-on hardscape and landscape work alongside the crew Guide, train, and support crew members throughout the workday Maintain a safe, organized, respectful, and productive job site Communicate clearly with the Operations Manager about job progress, schedule needs, material needs, field issues, and client questions Communicate professionally with clients when questions or site conditions arise Help ensure work is completed to OLO's quality standards and within the allotted time Track labor hours, job notes, photos, expenses, and materials accurately using company systems Load, unload, transport, and care for tools, equipment, stone, soil, plants, and other materials Operate trucks, trailers, and equipment safely and responsibly Support landscape maintenance services as needed, including seasonal cleanups, pruning, mulching, planting care, and general property stewardship Support low-voltage landscape lighting installation and maintenance as needed Help strengthen the hardscape skill level and leadership capacity of the crew Perform other duties as needed to support project completion and company operations Hardscape, Landscape, and Maintenance Work May Include Dry-laid stone walls Stone steps Flagstone patios and pathways Paver patios Crushed stone patios and walkways Garden layout and installation Soil preparation, grading, drainage-related work, and base preparation Planting, mulching, edging, pruning, and general landscape installation Seasonal cleanups and landscape maintenance services Low-voltage landscape lighting installation and maintenance Working with stone, gravel, soil, mulch, plants, aggregates, lighting materials, and other landscape construction materials Required Qualifications Strong hardscape installation experience Experience leading or helping lead a crew in the field Ability to lay out and complete hardscape work with a high level of quality Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to work independently, make practical field decisions, and communicate when support is needed Strong verbal and written communication skills Respectful and professional communication with coworkers, clients, and managers Ability to arrive on time each day ready to lead and be part of a team Willingness to support landscape installation, maintenance, and related services as needed Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a routine basis Ability to perform physical work including bending, kneeling, lifting, stooping, squatting, reaching, and walking on uneven surfaces for long periods of time Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around bees, poison ivy, pollen, thorns, and other environmental risks Preferred Qualifications Experience building dry-laid stone walls, stone steps, flagstone patios, paver patios, and crushed stone patios Ability to read and interpret landscape plans and construction details Experience operating mini skid steers, mini-excavators, Isuzu dump trucks, or similar construction equipment safely Knowledge of grading, drainage, base preparation, compaction, stone setting, and hardscape installation standards Interest in ecological landscaping, native plants, soil health, and organic land care Experience with landscape maintenance services, including seasonal cleanups, pruning, mulching, planting care, and general property stewardship Experience with or interest in low-voltage landscape lighting installation and maintenance Comfort using mobile apps for timekeeping, job notes, photos, and field communication Workplace Expectations Maintain a professional, respectful, and safety-minded presence on all job sites Follow company safety policies and job-site expectations Maintain smoke-free company vehicles, shop/yard areas, and client job sites Represent Our Land Organics well when interacting with clients, coworkers, vendors, and the public Schedule and Work Location This is a full-time, hourly position. Our operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Overtime may be available or required based on client and project demands. Work takes place at residential job sites throughout the Cincinnati region.
