The purpose of the position is to coordinate first-line support to a work group or unit completing operational, construction, or maintenance activities. This is accomplished by planning and organizing jobs; overseeing maintenance and repairs; coordinating projects between departments; and maintaining records of work performed. Other duties include training and enforcing safety regulations. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Works as lead for a unit or group by assigning work unit tasks; scheduling equipment and services; overseeing the maintenance and repair of equipment; inspecting tasks completed by workers and contractors; assisting with bids and contracts; interviewing and evaluating staff performance; ensuring all safety practices are followed; and resolving unexpected problems; Develops and updates maintenance procedures by evaluating processes; coordinating events; developing and ensuring quality controls; scheduling and attending training; and performing safety inspections; Schedules and assigns activities by reviewing and scheduling priorities; reviewing, recording, and filing work orders; and referring jobs for contract work; Maintains records by entering work information; recording maintenance activities; and tracking job costs; and Performs other assigned duties. Qualifications Associates degree; High School diploma or equivalent Four (4) years of related work experience on a crew in construction or maintenance of streets, roadways, water systems, parks, or landscapes; Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment; Commercial Applicator's License ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment; and Valid Drivers License. Supplemental Information Knowledge of methods, materials and techniques used in the construction and maintenance of parks, roadways, and landscapes Knowledge of standard safety processes, work gear and procedures Skill in the use of hand and power tools Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials
