Open Until Filled Employment Opportunity Under the general direction of the Streets Division Manager or Field Supervisor, the Public Services Technician Crew Leader is responsible for leading a crew on projects and for the skilled operation of specialized construction equipment.

Operates light and heavy equipment and a wide variety of hand and power tools. Performs general maintenance on equipment and tools. Equipment includes but is not limited to: Loader, grader, backhoe, roller, paver, dump truck, track hoe excavator, snow plow, salt spreader and various hand equipment related to road construction and maintenance.

Operates a plow and salt spreader during snow and ice control operations. Is responsible for maintaining an assigned route. Responsible for responding to emergency operations in a reasonable time.

Oversees, trains, and supervises assigned full-time and part-time employees in the completion of projects and assignments. Supervises a specific crew that specializes in road repair. May be assigned to manage other crews at time for sidewalk replacement, trip hazard removal, snow and ice control operations, or other tasks relating to road and sidewalk maintenance. Analyzes problems, determines staffing and equipment needed, makes appropriate arrangements, and oversees the project until it is completed.

Operates a computer and other handheld devices and various programs for record keeping, report writing, communications, and ordering supplies and materials. Required to understand and use basic functions of GIS and Elements (Novotx) software. Collects and works with GIS/GPS data utilizing computers, handheld devices, and GPS survey equipment. Must work the days and hours necessary to perform responsibilities. Begins and ends work on time. Must be available to respond to calls as needed after regular working hours.

Work may require an exposure to stressful circumstances, including meeting deadlines, meeting with the public or other employees in negative situations, or other stressful work conditions. Qualifications Ability to operate a variety of specialized equipment. Must possess a class A Utah Commercial Driver's license with hazmat endorsment. Must possess appropriate certifications in accordance with City policy and state regulations. Ability to analyze street maintenance or repair problems, assess possible options, and respond according. Skill in oral and written communications in order to deal effectively with the public and other employees. Skill in organizing workers, material and equipment to complete projects. Skill in the operation of a computer and its various programs. Requires graduation from high school or equivalent and two years experience in a related field and experience in supervision, planning, equipment operation and maintenance. Pay and Benefits Individual starting salary will depend on qualifications, certifications, and experience. The City also provides a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
