Job Description

Position Overview The Warehouse and Shipping Leader is a hands-on, floor-based leader responsible for directing the daily activities of the warehouse and shipping team. This role works alongside the team on the floor — leading by example in receiving, picking, packing, and shipping operations — while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, safety, and on-time delivery. The Leader reports to the Deputy Logistics Manager and partners closely with production, purchasing, and customer service to keep the supply chain running smoothly. Key Responsibilities Floor Leadership & Team Supervision Lead the warehouse and shipping team directly on the floor, working hands-on alongside associates during receiving, put-away, picking, packing, staging, loading, and shipping activities. Set the pace and standard for the team through personal example, clear direction, and active coaching. Assign daily workloads, monitor progress in real time, and step in wherever needed to keep operations moving. Support hiring, onboarding, training, and day-to-day performance management of team members. Shipping & Logistics Execution Oversee and actively participate in all outbound shipping operations, including domestic and international shipments, carrier coordination, and preparation of documentation (BOLs, packing lists, commercial invoices, export paperwork). Work closely with carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PL partners to ensure reliable, cost-effective service. Resolve shipping discrepancies, damages, and customer escalations promptly and on the floor. Inventory Control & Accuracy Maintain accurate inventory through cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation of variances. Ensure proper labeling, bin locations, and
FIFO/FEFO
practices where applicable. Partner with planning and purchasing to support stock availability and minimize obsolete or slow-moving inventory. Safety, Compliance & Facility Management Enforce all safety protocols, OSHA standards, and company policies to maintain a safe working environment. Oversee forklift and equipment certifications, PPE usage, and regular safety training. Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and compliant with 5S or equivalent standards. Ensure compliance with hazardous materials, customs, and export regulations as applicable. Process Improvement & Reporting Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput, reduce costs, and improve order accuracy and on-time shipping rates. Track and report on KPIs such as on-time shipment %, order accuracy, inventory accuracy, cost per shipment, and labor productivity to the Deputy Logistics Manager. Support optimization of WMS/ERP workflows. Required Qualifications 5+ years of progressive experience in warehouse, shipping, or distribution operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or floor-lead role. Strong working knowledge of shipping processes, carrier management, and domestic/international freight. Proficient in WMS, ERP, and shipping systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, ShipStation, FedEx/UPS WorldShip). Proficient in the use of AI tools to streamline workflows, analyze data, and support decision-making. Down-to-earth attitude — hands-on, approachable, and ready to work alongside the team on the floor every day. Strong results-driven mindset with a proven track record of meeting KPIs, deadlines, and operational targets. Solid understanding of inventory control principles, safety standards, and warehouse best practices. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate (or be certified to operate) material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Preferred Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing, production, or assembly-driven environment. Forklift certification and/or OSHA safety training. Lean, Six Sigma, or 5S certification or experience. Experience with international shipping, customs documentation, and export compliance. Bilingual skills a plus, depending on workforce. Key Competencies Hands-on, lead-from-the-floor leadership. Sense of urgency and ownership. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
