Warehouse Manager Position Summary The Warehouse Supervisor oversees daily warehouse operations at our Otay Mesa facility, including the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods across a 20,000 sq. ft. space. This role directly supervises warehouse personnel while ensuring full compliance with U.S. safety regulations, C-TPAT protocols, and cross-border logistics requirements. The Warehouse Supervisor is a hands-on leader who balances floor presence with operational reporting and is accountable for inventory accuracy, team performance, and on-time border crossing coordination. This position requires a bilingual (English/Spanish) professional with 3-5 years of experience in border logistics, warehouse operations, and supervision, strong working knowledge of WMS/ERP systems, and the ability to make real-time decisions in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. Key Responsibilities Inventory Management Monitor inbound and outbound inventory using Warehouse Management System (WMS) software. Oversee shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all inbound and outbound shipments. Conduct cycle counts and random audits to ensure inventory accuracy. Generate KPI reports tracking response times, inventory precision, and operational performance. Manage the processing of damaged, returned, or written-off merchandise (bajas), ensuring proper documentation and disposition in accordance with company procedures. Cross-Border Logistics Coordinate with carriers and customs brokers for the loading and unloading of dry vans and containers. Ensure proper handling of merchandise throughout the receiving, storage, and dispatch process, following established procedures at each stage. Maintain working knowledge of key shipping documents including Bills of Lading (BOL), Packing Lists, and cargo manifests. Prioritize shipments to ensure border crossing times are not impacted by inventory errors or documentation issues. Staff Supervision Directly supervise warehouse personnel (teams typically ranging from 5 to 10 employees). Delegate tasks effectively across warehouse personnel to ensure smooth daily operations and accountability at every level. Resolve floor-level conflicts and make real-time decisions on shipment prioritization. Support onboarding, performance coaching, and day-to-day team direction. Ensure warehouse personnel comply with timekeeping, meal and rest break, and overtime policies in accordance with California labor law. Safety & Compliance Uphold C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) and OEA security standards. Ensure compliance with California OSHA regulations and all applicable U.S. workplace safety requirements. Conduct security seal inspections and cargo contamination checks as required. Facility & Equipment Oversight Design and maintain warehouse layout for optimal storage of high-turnover products. Manage multiple dock doors simultaneously in a compact 20,000 sq. ft. environment. Oversee preventive maintenance for forklifts, racks, and warehouse equipment. Qualifications & Competencies Technical Skills Bilingual (English/Spanish) — Required for communication with drivers, U.S. management, and operational staff. WMS/ERP Proficiency — Experience with systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or comparable logistics platforms. Customs Documentation — Working knowledge of BOL, Packing Lists, and cargo manifests. C-TPAT Security Protocols — In-depth understanding of cargo contamination prevention procedures. Intermediate to Advanced Excel — Ability to build and maintain KPI reports, response time tracking, and inventory accuracy dashboards. Key Competencies Sense of Urgency — Understands that a 30-minute delay at the dock can result in a missed border crossing window. Leadership & Decision-Making — Comfortable resolving team conflicts and reprioritizing under pressure. Organizational Agility — Able to manage multiple tasks, docks, and team members simultaneously. Attention to Detail — Prevents customs discrepancies, fines, and cargo holds through precise documentation practices. Technology Adaptability — Open to learning and working with evolving warehouse systems, tools, and processes in a fast-changing operational environment. Requirements Experience 3-5 years of experience in border logistics, warehouse operations, and supervision Schedule Flexibility required; customs crossing schedules dictate operational pace Compliance Knowledge of California labor laws and Cal/OSHA requirements Language Bilingual English/Spanish required Education High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree or vocational training in logistics, supply chain, or a related field preferred but not required. Equivalent experience will be considered. Physical Requirements The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the warehouse facility for the duration of a shift. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally; ability to navigate actively throughout a warehouse and dock environment for the duration of a shift. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and twisting in a warehouse and dock environment. Ability to work in varying temperature conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, and outdoor yard environments. Ability to work in areas with elevated noise levels from forklifts, loading equipment, and warehouse operations. Visual acuity sufficient to read shipping documents, computer screens, and safety labels. Ability to remain alert and focused in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities.
Compensation Hourly Pay Range:
$25 - $30 per hour Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and operational requirements.
