Job Description

Part-time, 2026-27 School Year, Weimar Hills School Monday
  • Friday, 3 hours per day 8:30 am
  • 1:00 pm
CAFETERIA DUTY/YARD SUPERVISOR
Class Definition:
Under supervision of the school principal and/or teacher on duty, assists in maintaining standards of student discipline/behavioral conduct and assuring observance of rules and procedures by students in all non-classroom areas of the school campus, intervening as necessary for safety and control; monitors lunch and lunch tables and assures that tables are clean at the end of lunch; performs related work as required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
(Any one position may not include all of the duties listed nor do all of the listed examples include all tasks which may be performed as part of this position.) 1. Supervises and assists students in lunch room and all other non-classroom areas. 2. Maintains an orderly cafeteria line. 3. Prepares tables for use by the next group of students or for the next day's use. 4. Supervises playgrounds, fields, hallways, rest rooms and other areas where students gather in order to observe student behavior and prevent unsafe activities. 5. Enforces student rules and code of conduct as defined in the student handbook. 6. Prevents rough and dangerous play activities and assures that children stay on playground. 7. Encourages and promotes courtesy among children. 8. Deals with student misconduct in a tactful and diplomatic manner. 9. Directs students as necessary to prevent injury or damage to property. 10. Assures that children receive first aide and prepares accident reports when children are injured. 11. Reports inappropriate activities to site administrator or designee. 12. Checks for and reports safety issues/hazards. 13. Completes written documents and reports as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma
Required Qualifications and Abilities:
Ability to establish effective working relationships with school staff and students Ability to communicate effectively with adults and students Ability to deal tactfully and diplomatically with students and staff Ability to effectively write documents and reports Ability to follow oral and written directions Ability to work independently and make minor decisions with the framework of established guidelines Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Desirable Qualifications and Abilities:
Experience in school setting or in youth related activities
Required Physical Characteristics:
(With or without the use of aids)
  • Mobility and stamina to stand and walk for a major portion of the work shift
  • Sufficient vision to read printed material and observe students from a distance
  • Sufficient hearing to hear normal conversations and telephone conversations
  • Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation
  • Manual dexterity to write and operate business machines
