Job Description

We are a growing construction company seeking an organized, proactive, and sharp Parts Specialist to take ownership of our fleet maintenance shop. This is a vital, high-level role that operates similarly to an Assistant Shop Manager or Service Manager. You will be the central hub of our shop—managing the procurement of parts for heavy equipment and commercial vehicles, coordinating vendor relationships, tracking maintenance schedules, and ensuring our mechanics and field crews have the tools and materials they need to minimize equipment downtime. If you thrive in a fast-paced construction environment and know how to keep a fleet running efficiently, we want you on our team!
Key Responsibilities Procurement & Sourcing:
Research, source, and order parts and materials for heavy machinery (excavators, loaders, dozers) and commercial fleet vehicles (dump trucks, pickups).
Inventory & Shop Management:
Maintain a highly organized, clean, and safe shop environment and parts inventory tracking system.
Vendor & Cost Tracking:
Build and maintain strong relationships with parts vendors and dealerships to secure competitive pricing and ensure accurate job-costing.
Service Coordination:
Work hand-in-hand with the Shop Foreman and mechanics to anticipate upcoming maintenance needs and prevent project delays in the field.
Documentation & Compliance:
Verify packing slips against purchase orders, track equipment maintenance logs, and assist the administrative team with processing vendor invoices.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
2+ years of experience in parts management, service writing, or shop coordination, specifically within the construction, heavy equipment, or commercial trucking industries.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong familiarity with heavy equipment components, diesel engine parts, and hydraulic systems.
Software Skills:
Proficient with computer systems for tracking inventory or equipment maintenance. Experience with construction management or fleet-tracking software is a major plus.
Attributes:
Exceptional organizational skills, clear communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a busy shop environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate a heavy equipment shop/yard safely.
Employment Type:
Full Time Salary:
$25 - $29
Hourly Bonus/Commission:
