Based in the Quad Cities, the company has experienced significant growth since its founding in 2006, expanding its fleet to over 150 trucks and broadening its service reach throughout the United States. Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and dependable Local CDL Shag Driver & Yard Coordinator to join our team. This role combines professional truck driving with yard management responsibilities, ensuring efficient loading, unloading, and movement of freight while maintaining a safe and organized yard environment. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and committed to safety and operational excellence. Responsibilities Operate tractor-trailers, including but not limited to flatbeds, conestogas, and dry van trailers. Shag (move) loaded and unloaded trailers between our yard and our local customers, running local freight as needed. Equip trailers for loads and daily operations. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to ensure compliance with safety standards. Preload and tarp trailers when required. Assist with load securing procedures for different freight types, including flatbed loads and heavy equipment. Manage route driving schedules efficiently to meet delivery deadlines across local routes. Coordinate yard activities by directing truck movements, organizing trailers, and maintaining a clean and safe yard environment. Communicate effectively with dispatch to update delivery statuses and resolve any operational issues promptly. Experience Must have a valid CDL-A. Must have at least 2 years experience driving commercial vehicles. Must have at least 6 months experience with flatbed/open deck trailers. Delivery driver experience preferred, especially in handling freight that requires careful load & unload procedures. Familiarity with operating forklifts or other yard equipment is a plus. Knowledge of route planning and route driving best practices for local deliveries. Ability to perform truck inspections and basic maintenance checks confidently. Strong organizational skills to coordinate yard activities efficiently while adhering to safety protocols.
