Job Description

Job Overview Kiewit Foundations Company. is a full-service geotechnical foundation contractor operating across North America. Our experience and expertise cover a wide range of specialty foundation construction for both structural and ground improvement solutions. As a Yard/Shop Foreman, you'll be hands-on in the field overseeing yard laydown and storage, truck unloading and loading, tooling inspections, daily shop operations, supervise fabrication personnel, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, hands-on fabrication experience, knowledge of deep foundations, the ability to manage workflow, production schedules, and team performance. You'll work alongside your team to keep jobs moving, solve problems in real time, and deliver high-quality results. You'll take ownership in the field, build your leadership skills, and play a key role in delivering high-quality projects. Primary Responsibilities And Duties Supervise and coordinate daily activities of welders, fabricators, and shop personnel Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and production schedules Ensure projects are completed on time and meet quality standards Monitor shop productivity and maintain workflow efficiency Train, mentor, and evaluate fabrication staff Operate forklift and overhead crane when needed Clean tools and equipment using pressurized water, needle scales, grinders, etc. Assist in the safe loading / unloading of tools and equipment to and from trucks or in and out of the shop. Enforce workplace safety procedures and company policies Coordinate material usage, equipment maintenance, and inventory needs Inspect tooling and finished products for accuracy and workmanship Troubleshoot fabrication or production issues quickly and effectively Qualifications 3-5 years of fabrication, construction or welding experience preferred May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Previous supervisory or foreman experience strongly preferred Strong knowledge of deep foundations, construction, and shop equipment Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings Experience with SMAW (Stick), GMAW (Mig) welding preferred Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Forklift and overhead crane experience a plus Knowledge of how to accurately read a measuring tape OSHA/safety knowledge preferred Requirements The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds Regular, reliable attendance Expected to lead, participate and engage in safety discussions Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site Must have required tools May require U.S. Driver License Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability and protected veteran status.
