This role is vital in ensuring the safety, reliability, and optimal performance of our fleet of heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for maintaining a diverse range of machinery. As a key player in our operations, you will oversee daily maintenance activities, coordinate repairs, and ensure adherence to safety standards, all while fostering a proactive maintenance culture. Duties Supervise and coordinate the work of maintenance technicians during the second shift, ensuring timely completion of repairs and inspections. Diagnose and troubleshoot issues across a wide range of equipment including heavy machinery, heavy duty diesel mechanic Perform or oversee repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspensions, air brake systems, and HVAC units. Conduct fabrication tasks such as welding, soldering, and assembly to support equipment repair or customization needs. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to accurately diagnose problems and implement effective solutions. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, inspections, parts used, and repair logs for accountability and compliance. Ensure all safety protocols are followed during maintenance procedures to promote a safe working environment for the team. Skills Proven experience working with dealership or heavy equipment maintenance; familiarity with Caterpillar, excavator, crane, forklift, tractor-trailer, and farm machinery is highly preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in heavy duty tractor diesel engine diagnostics, brake repair, wheel alignment, shocks & struts replacement, tire service, and welding. Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, electrical testing devices, and service technician equipment to perform repairs efficiently. Ability to read and interpret schematics for electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, and HVAC components. Experience with heavy equipment operation including excavators advantageous. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance best practices including air brake systems and suspension components. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively while maintaining high standards of quality work. Strong customer service orientation to communicate effectively with internal teams and external vendors when necessary. Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and operate various industrial machinery as required.
