Hammond, IN 46320 Direct Hire opportunity with career growth and stability Job Description A leading industrial distribution company in Houston is seeking a Shipping Coordinator to provide administrative and logistical support within a fast-paced shipping and operations environment. This entry-level role is responsible for organizing shipping orders, assisting with logistics coordination, and supporting communication between internal departments. The Shipping Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring accurate documentation, timely order processing, and efficient coordination of both domestic and export shipments. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting day-to-day shipping operations.
Responsibilities:
Review, organize, and process shipping orders, including domestic and export shipments Assist with scheduling and tracking repack and repackaging activities Support in-house shipping operations and resolve logistics-related order issues Maintain accurate shipping records using inventory systems and office software Coordinate communication between shipping and sales teams to ensure order accuracy and timeliness Perform general administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, photocopying, and document management Adapt to changing priorities and assist with additional tasks as assigned by management Work flexible hours, including overtime or weekends, as needed to support operations
Qualifications and Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required 2-4 years of administrative or clerical experience preferred Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is a plus Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities Strong verbal and written communication skills Customer service experience preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems quickly Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
