ROLE OVERVIEW
The Shipping Supervisor works with the distribution team to increase company profitability and customer satisfaction through efficient, cost-effective scheduling of deliveries and routing of trucks. This role also oversees DOT driver file compliance and coordinates closely with department heads and branch sales personnel.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Delivery Scheduling & Route Operations Schedule deliveries and route trucks in an efficient and cost-effective manner; establish proper routing for all drivers Oversee that manifests are completed and distributed to drivers in a timely fashion Schedule pick-ups of returned materials from suppliers and customers Take telephone orders and relay delivery-related information accurately to the team Fleet & Equipment Coordination Schedule repairs and preventive maintenance for trucks and other company equipment Set up and maintain all driver files in compliance with DOT requirements Coordinate activities with department heads and branch sales personnel to ensure smooth operations Standards & Accountability Assist with scheduled inventory counts as needed Attend company meetings as requested Follow all company policies, procedures, and Employee Handbook requirements Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required Minimum 1 year in a progressive position; 3 years in a similar role preferred Supervisory experience preferred Knowledge of logistics, including carriers, shipping policies, and procedures Valid driver's license and clean driving record required Strong organizational skills with accuracy and attention to detail Effective communicator with strong phone and customer service skills Ability to plan routes, multi-task, and adapt quickly to changing priorities Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and stand for up to 8 hours; comfortable working in varying indoor/outdoor conditions
