Job Description

Job Description Title:
Route Coordinator Summary:
Serves as a primary point of contact for the company by answering phones, greeting visitors, and supporting staff. Routes inquiries to the appropriate personnel and handles routine office responsibilities. Assists staff to ensure on-time performance of service within an assigned geographical area or School District. Assists with routing of routes if required for the contract of assigned duty location.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Communicates and works effectively with Vision staff, school personnel, students, parents and the public. 2. Coordinates assigned geographic area of routes. Coordinating dispatch activities and serving as the primary point of contact for drivers regarding, but not limited to route changes, service issues, and on-route support. 3. Assists with routing within the school district if required of the contract. Designs safe, reliable, and timely routes that comply with contract requirements, the company's routing standards, and state and federal recommendations. 4. Handles heavy phones and radio traffic. 5. Assist drivers with day-to-day operations and ensure compliance with operating contracts, state and local ordinances, and company policies and procedures. 6. Assists management and/or staff with scheduling of buses; dispatch buses and provide timely information to drivers regarding routes. 7. Ensure emergency situations are followed in accordance with operating procedures, i.e. planning for emergencies, conducting evacuation drills (under the direction of the district(s) we serve) and following all established emergency procedures as required. 8. Ensure company safety policies and procedures are followed as required. 9. Welcomes visitors and employees by greeting them both in person and on the telephone. Answering or referring inquiries to appropriate personnel. 10. Attend mandatory transportation meetings as well as other safety meetings throughout the school year. 11. Administrative duties such as faxing, copying, filing, record maintenance, creating and modifying various documentation, etc. 12. Signs in staff and tracking departure times for each route, each day (including subs). 13. Assist with driver duties including driving routes as needed. 14. Performs other duties as assigned.

1. Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information. 2. Strong time management and organizational skills to be able to work under time constraints and deadlines. 3. Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills demonstrate a level of professional behavior that builds positive relationships with external contacts and staff. 4. Strong problem solving and critical thinking to be able to respond to urgent issues. 5. Willingness to learn new skills and take on new projects when requested. 6. Ability to act with integrity and adhere to Vision's policies, Code of Conduct, and safety protocols, such as no-smoking on school district property, in company/district-owned transportation vehicles, and within Vision's buildings. 7. Basic knowledge of computer usage.
Physical Demands:
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent operation of computer, phone, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively via phone and in person.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for general phone or computer usage.
  • Must be able to drive company vehicles without restrictions.
Work Environment:
  • Primary work is performed in an office setting.
  • Exposure to different temperatures while in the office or outside in the bus yard. Travel Required (if applicable):
  • Occasional driving as needed.
Required Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year previous location operations, dispatch, or driver experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

Pay:
$49,000.00 - $54,000.00 per year
