Kansas City, MO Job Details Full-time From $60,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Parental leave Employee assistance program Vision insurance 401(k) matching Life insurance Qualifications Teamwork Computer literacy Purchase order management Forklift High school diploma or GED Driver's License Driving Data entry Industrial equipment Freight Order picking Transportation documentation for distribution operations Full Job Description The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor manages, and coordinates activities of workers engaged in verifying and keeping records on incoming and outgoing shipments, and preparing items for shipment such as shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Directly manages, oversees, and mentors all shipping and receiving employees. 2. Facilitates and resolves employee relations issues such as performance, attendance, attitude, and teamwork. 3. Oversee incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. 4. Oversee and manage CDL driver, compliance documentation, driver logs, vehicle inspections, and transportation activities. 5. Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment. 6. Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states. 7. Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications. 8. Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair. 9. Collects and keeps on file required daily Forklift inspection sheets. 10. Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas. Works within best practices for organizing and maximizing warehouse space. 11. Verify's all products meet quality standards for appearance prior to shipping. 12. Backs up other supervisors when they are on vacation. 13. Will fill in and assist workers in shipping and receiving while they are absent or on vacation. 14. Monitor inventory levels and assist with cycle counts and yearly physical inventory. 15. Communicate with carriers, vendors, production teams, and customer service regarding shipment status and delivery concerns. 16. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment. 17. Verify shipping documentation, packing slips, bills of lading, and inventory records. 18. Completes with all safety, health and regulatory compliance laws and policies. 19. May require overtime, weekends, or flexible scheduling based on business needs. 20. Must carry a company-issued work phone and remain available for business-related calls, operational issues, and transportation needs during scheduled working hours and as needed for operational support. 21. Other tasks and special projects assigned by manager.
Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires successful completion of a background check prior to employment. 1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred, or 3-5 years of more related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 2. Ability to obtain powered industrial truck permit and safely operate various types of powered industrial trucks. 3. Must have a clean driving record which is determined by insurance carrier. Evidence of clean driving record obtained through state of issuance driver's license report. 4. A demonstrated ability to read and follow formulas and instructions. 5. Ability to perform by not limited to the following tasks, be familiar with and able to interpret packing slips, enter the computer the correct information, to acknowledge receipt of the goods into the purchase order and processing database. 6. Must be able to fill out bills of lading and be familiar with various forms that are used and required by the major freight carriers. 7. Must be capable of estimating weight and use that information to calculate the cost of shipping. 8. Must be familiar with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements. 9. Experience with
UPS/FEDEX
online software if desirable. Basic computer competency is preferred (able to use computer for email, basic data entry, locating and retrieving work documents from shared drives). 10. Must be confident using a swing reach to pick orders from 20-30 feet high. Working Conditions and/or
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and /or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds. Manufacturing and warehouse setting.

From $60,000.00 per year
