Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for assigning a daily task to each driver/employee to collect the garbage, recycling, yard waste and grab all routes. Also, reaching customers to solve any daily issues. This position is responsible for coordinating the division's residential refuse collection and disposal operations. Delivering trailers and rollout carts as needed. Helping with answering phones or anything else that is needed in the office. Speaking with customers to address their concerns and to solve the issue. Checking behind the drivers to ensure that the routes are completed entirely. Supervises crews in the collection and disposal of residential solid waste. Surveys assigned routes to ensure proper collection of refuse. Makes work assignments and maintains collection schedule. Investigates and resolves customer complaints. Assists in the delivery of roll-out carts and recycling bins. Assists in the delivery, retrieval, and emptying of debris trailer. Coordinates the collection of yard waste, bulk waste, and white goods. Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines personnel. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years' experience in a related field of work. Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina; along with a Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of residential solid waste collection policies. Knowledge of collection routes and boundaries. Knowledge of solid waste collection equipment operation. Knowledge of solid waste collection equipment repair and maintenance. Skill in the supervision of personnel. Skill in analyzing problems and identifying solutions. Skill in establishing cooperative and productive working relationships. Skill in performing mathematical calculations. Skill in interpersonal relations. Skills in oral and written communication.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is heavy work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion, sitting, standing, and walking. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Required close visual acuity to perform activities like viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily indoors where exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, and noises is typically encountered.
