Job Summary :
The Dock Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the shipping and receiving dock, ensuring efficient loading, unloading, and movement of all materials. The position demands a detail-oriented professional who can balance multiple priorities while ensuring high standards of safety and operational excellence. This position will report to the Transportation Manager. Key Responsibilities 1.
Daily Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate all dock related activities including loading, unloading, storage, and movement of materials. Develop and implement inbound schedules and procedures to optimize dock efficiency and resource utilization. Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Oversee material handlers assigned to the dock, train new hires and temporary staff, and direct both on product movements as needed. Oversee maintenance of dock and equipment to ensure operational readiness. Work with the Transportation Manager and Supervisor on scheduled inbound and outbound shipments. Oversee and inspect incoming/outgoing packages to ensure accuracy and condition of all shipments. Determine and calculate space required for incoming goods and storage. Oversee and direct personnel on unloading floor loaded containers from overseas. Must have valid unrestricted OH driver's license, as the candidate will periodically be required to drive packages to local UPS or FedEx hubs in their personal vehicle, with mileage reimbursement. Candidate may travel as required to domestic shipping points to process outbound shipments from OnQ. 2. Requirements and Qualifications Experience in warehouse, transportation, or operations coordination required. Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to oversee others without direct managerial authority. Comfortable operating warehouse equipment to include but not be limited to a sit-down forklift and a stand-up reach truck. Demonstrated reliability and ability to work autonomously. 3.
Process Improvement:
Analyze departmental processes and protocols to identify areas for improvement for fulfillment operations. Maintain and improve strategies to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and streamline fulfillment operations. 4.
Communication:
Communicate with fellow associates to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
Education, Certifications and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent. 2-4 years equivalent work experience in a dock or terminal environment is a plus. 2-4 years forklift experience Work Environment This is a warehouse position in our brand-new Akron facility. Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. Fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment. May require occasional overtime based on project timelines. Some lifting and material moving are required.
