JOB SUMMARY
: The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all outbound logistics operations at the manufacturing facility. This role manages a team of shippers, ensures timely and accurate shipments, coordinates with carriers, and upholds safety and quality standards. The Shipping Supervisor plays a key role in optimizing daily shipping workflows, maintaining compliance, and supporting continuous improvement in logistics operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following: Supervise daily shipping operations , including order picking, packing, pallet building, labeling, documentation, and truck loading. Lead and manage shipping staff , including scheduling, training, task delegation, and performance monitoring. Coordinate outbound shipments with production, inventory, and customer service departments to ensure timely fulfillment. Work with freight carriers and logistics providers to schedule pickups, manage freight quotes, and resolve issues. Ensure all shipments are properly packaged , documented, and comply with company, customer, and regulatory standards. Monitor inventory of shipping materials (e.g., pallets, shrink wrap, labels) and place replenishment orders as needed. Enforce and monitor safety protocols , proper use of equipment, and housekeeping standards in the shipping area. Use ERP systems and shipping software to track shipments, generate documents, and update shipment statuses. Troubleshoot and resolve shipping delays, discrepancies, or customer complaints in a timely manner. Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing process improvements in shipping workflow and efficiency. Maintain and report on shipping KPIs, such as on-time shipment rate, accuracy, and load efficiency. Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and company policies. Operate forklifts or pallet jacks to organize shipments and load trucks as needed. Other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises Shipping individual contributors. Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. Handles employee conduct as needed and in accordance with company employee handbook and in coordination with Human Resources.
TRAVEL DEMANDS
May require occasional travel locally, to customer sites, or for training purposes.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Strong understanding of shipping procedures, freight classifications, and documentation. Proficient with ERP systems and shipping platforms. Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office. Strong basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). Ability to convert decimals to fractions and read a tape measure to 1/16". Basic reading and writing proficiency. Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely. Comfortable working with hand tools, pallet jacks, shrink wrappers, and overseeing use of nail guns and saws for custom packaging as needed. Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills including prioritizing duties. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Requires use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes. Successful completion of 90-day probationary period
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain or related field preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in shipping or warehouse operations, including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Some functions include: prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; talking on phone; climbing up and down stairs; walking shop floor; standing, stooping, bending, reaching, crawling, and occasionally lifting 50 lbs. or more.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role primarily operates within a manufacturing facility, with exposure to production floor activities and office environments.
