Job Description

Ritter Foods LLC is a 100+ year-old Philadelphia food company specializing in meat and poultry distribution and the manufacturing of quality sliced sandwich steaks. We serve retail supermarkets, meat markets, distributors, foodservice operators, and institutional customers across local, regional, and national markets. We are seeking a hands-on Warehouse / Shipping Supervisor to help lead daily warehouse, order picking, staging, loading, shipping, inventory, and dock activities in our refrigerated and frozen food distribution operation. This role is ideal for a practical, organized, floor-oriented supervisor who can lead hourly employees, maintain accuracy, reinforce safety, and keep product moving efficiently in a fast-paced cold-storage environment.
Important schedule note:
Our warehouse and distribution operation runs on a multi-shift, 24-hour basis. The successful candidate must be flexible and willing to work the shift, hours, weekends, and schedule necessary to meet operational, staffing, shipping, and customer service needs. Key Responsibilities
    Warehouse & Shipping Supervision:
Supervise daily warehouse and shipping activities, including order picking, staging, loading, shipping, receiving support, product movement, and dock organization.
      Team Leadership:
Direct, coach, train, schedule, and hold accountable warehouse employees, selectors, forklift operators, loaders, and other shift personnel.
        Order Accuracy & Fulfillment:
Ensure customer orders are picked, checked, staged, loaded, and shipped accurately and on time.
          Inventory Control:
Help maintain inventory accuracy through proper product rotation, lot control, cycle counts, location discipline, and timely reporting of discrepancies.
            Cold-Storage Product Handling:
Reinforce proper handling, storage, temperature control, rotation, and protection of refrigerated and frozen meat and poultry products.
              Shipping Documentation:
Maintain and review bills of lading, manifests, pick tickets, packing lists, receiving records, and other warehouse/shipping documentation.
                Safety & Housekeeping:
Enforce safe work practices, proper forklift and equipment usage, clean dock and warehouse conditions, and compliance with company safety policies.
                  Equipment & Facility Awareness:
Monitor forklifts, pallet jacks, dock equipment, warehouse machinery, and general warehouse conditions; report maintenance issues promptly.
                    Communication:
Coordinate with distribution management, drivers, dispatch, sales, customer service, purchasing, QA, production, and other departments to resolve issues and keep orders flowing.
                      Process Improvement:
Identify practical ways to reduce errors, improve productivity, strengthen accountability, improve loading flow, and create a more efficient fulfillment process. Ideal Candidate Profile
                      • Previous supervisory, lead, or management experience in a warehouse, shipping, distribution, cold-storage, food, meat, poultry, or perishable-goods environment.
                      • Strong working knowledge of warehouse operations, order picking, staging, loading, receiving, inventory control, shipping documentation, and dock operations.
