Organization Description:
Kitsap Fresh is a producer-owned cooperative that operates an online marketplace featuring locally sourced, transparently identified products. The cooperative is dedicated to supporting and advancing farmers and food producers across the Kitsap region. We provide comprehensive marketing and distribution services for approximately 60 member producers, including 40 farms located in Kitsap and neighboring counties. Kitsap Fresh is currently in a dynamic growth phase, focused on developing its emerging wholesale market while continuing to strengthen and expand its established retail operations.
Position Summary:
The Warehouse Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency, organization, and overall success of Kitsap Fresh's operations. In partnership with the General Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining smooth logistics, operational excellence, and a clean, well-functioning facility. To optimize communication and operations, this leader will be required to work on-site Mondays thru Thursdays. They will participate in cross-training so they can assist with other tasks when the need arises. Equally important, this role emphasizes strong relationship management and serves as an inspirational leader—cultivating positive, productive connections with producers, staff, and customers alike. The Warehouse Lead oversees scheduling and coordination of warehouse staff, as well as directing the daily operations to meet organizational needs and service standards. In addition, this position manages market operations, including sourcing and ordering supplemental inventory from local food hubs and vendors. Collaborating closely with the General Manager, the Warehouse Lead contributes to the strategic growth of both retail and wholesale sales. This role will also support Kitsap Fresh's Wholesale Program by overseeing the day-to-day coordination and execution of its operations. Key responsibilities include communicating with and coordinating orders with producers. As the Wholesale Program is still in its early stages, we are seeking a forward-thinking individual who can contribute to its growth, improve operational efficiency, and increase overall sales volume. Principal Duties Marketplace & Operations Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Kitsap Fresh marketplace, including platform management, inventory accuracy, and order fulfillment through the Local Food Marketplace (LFM) system
- Ensure efficient administrative systems to support order accuracy, reporting, and payment processing
- Manage producer participation, including onboarding, documentation, and ongoing coordination Warehouse & Logistics Management
- Direct warehouse operations, including logistics, inventory procurement, and supply management
- Supervise warehouse staff and volunteers, including scheduling, training, and day-to-day support
- Support order aggregation and distribution, including occasional delivery responsibilities
- Collaborate with the General Manager to evaluate operations and implement improvements Wholesale Program Management
- Contribute to the growth of the wholesale program, including product listings, inventory sourcing, and order coordination
- Develop and maintain relationships with producers, partners, and wholesale customers
- Contribute to wholesale communications and marketing efforts
- Collaborate with the General Manager and Board to identify and implement strategies for program growth Qualifications Required
- Proven ability to manage logistics, scheduling, and day-to-day operations
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervising and motivating staff or volunteers
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including producers, staff, customers, and partners
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, Google Drive), and comfort learning new software systems (such as Local Food Marketplace or similar platforms)
- Experience in marketing, sales, or customer service, with a focus on relationship management
- Flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and variable weekly schedules, including some evenings and weekends
- Valid driver's license, 10 years driving experience, clean driving record, access to reliable personal transportation, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Associate's degree (A.A. or A.S.) or equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred
- Knowledge of local and regional food systems, cooperatives, or food hub operations
- Experience in e-commerce marketplace management or wholesale program coordination
- Background in agriculture, food production, or small farm operations
- Passion for local food, sustainability, and community-driven economic development
- Skills in data management, reporting, or financial tracking related to inventory and sales Compensation and Work Environment This is a part-time position with an hourly pay range of $21-$24 commensurate with experience.
The role follows a hybrid work model, incorporating time at the warehouse and remote work. Evening or weekend hours are required. Approved work-related travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with organizational policy.
