Up to $25/hour based on experience Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Team Lead oversees all inbound and outbound product movement, ensuring accurate documentation, packaging, and timely shipment of domestic and international orders. This role maintains precise inventory records, coordinates with internal departments and freight carriers, and leads the daily activities of the shipping and receiving team. The position typically operates on a day shift schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing and warehouse environment. Responsibilities Receive and process all incoming products, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and quality of deliveries. Inspect incoming deliveries for accuracy, discrepancies, and damage, comparing purchase orders with invoices and packing lists. Enter receiving information into the ERP system (NetSuite), including correct units of measure and required signatures. Scan and file packing slips appropriately for accurate recordkeeping. Label all incoming products with the appropriate item numbers and distribute materials to the correct locations within the facility. Package, label, and weigh all customer orders for timely shipment, confirming product quantities and shipping methods are accurate and appropriate. Assign shipping and insurance charges for prepaid orders in accordance with company guidelines. Contact and coordinate with various freight companies to schedule shipments and receipts, preparing all necessary shipping documentation. Work from current and future shipping lists to ensure on-time delivery of products to customers and vendors. Print packing slips from NetSuite for outgoing shipments and ensure they are included with orders. Print purchase orders from NetSuite to accompany work-in-process materials sent to outside operations. Document shipping details accurately on sales orders to maintain clear shipment histories. Stock purchased parts into inventory after receipt, verifying quantities and storage locations. Monitor and control shipping and receiving supplies, reorder through purchasing, and restock shipping materials and boxes as needed. Maintain transactional accuracy for purchased parts and supplies in the inventory system. Load and unload materials, including loading tractor trailers using a fork truck, and move materials using appropriate material handling equipment. Oversee and train staff within the shipping and receiving department, providing guidance on procedures, safety, and best practices. Ensure all Safety, Health, and Environmental policies are followed for all work performed in the department. Consistently use proper personal protective equipment (such as safety shoes, eyewear, and hearing protection) and remain current with required safety training. Identify and recommend enhanced safety measures, equipment, and process improvements to the safety committee. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including general housekeeping of the shipping and receiving zones. Perform cycle counts and support inventory control activities to ensure accurate warehouse inventory levels. Use RF scanners, data entry tools, and other warehouse technology to track inventory and process orders. Collaborate effectively with Customer Service, Production, Accounting, Inventory Control, Inspection, and Purchasing to resolve issues and support smooth operations. Perform other related duties as assigned to support warehouse, shipping, receiving, and general labor needs. Essential Skills High school diploma or equivalent. Three or more years of related experience in shipping, receiving, inventory control, or a combination of work experience and training; experience in a manufacturing or quality control environment is desirable. Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office (Excel and Word). Experience using ERP systems; prior use of NetSuite is a plus. Skilled in using FedEx and UPS shipping systems for domestic and international shipments. Familiarity with international shipping processes, including Incoterms, customs documentation requirements, and AES filing (experience is considered a plus). Ability to operate weigh scales and various material handling equipment safely and effectively. Ability to load tractor trailers using a fork truck; current or obtainable fork truck certification is required. Experience with core warehouse functions such as shipping and receiving, packing, loading, order picking, and material handling. Ability to perform inventory control tasks, including cycle counts and inventory management using RF scanners and data entry tools. Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact clearly and professionally with team members across departments. Highly motivated, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team. Flexibility to work overtime when needed and ability to cope with shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment. Solid work ethic, dependable attendance, and reliable availability. Ability to read, write, and communicate fluently in English. Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, twist, squat, push, pull, and carry materials as needed, including lifting up to 30-50 pounds, and to work around machinery with sustained alertness. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly around high-speed or CNC machinery, is desirable. Prior exposure to quality control processes is beneficial. Experience with SAP or similar ERP/warehouse systems in addition to NetSuite is an advantage. Previous forklift or sit-down forklift experience in a warehouse or production setting. Experience in warehouse inventory management and cycle counting best practices. Comfort working with customized CNC grinding and fabrication equipment in a production setting. Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly, including additional ERP modules and shipping platforms. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities. Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement. The team operates with a smaller crew structure, with a lean day and second shift, encouraging close collaboration and strong team relationships. The facility utilizes customized CNC grinding and fabrication equipment, high-speed machinery, and a variety of material handling equipment, requiring consistent safety awareness and adherence to safety procedures. The environment is generally well-lit and indoors, with moderate noise levels and potential exposure to machine oil, metal filings, manufacturing odors, and typical industrial sounds. Personal Protective Equipment (such as safety shoes, eyewear, and hearing protection) is required in designated areas, and safety training is provided in accordance with applicable standards and company policies. The position involves extended periods of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and other physical activities, including lifting and carrying up to approximately 30-50 pounds and working on and around mechanized equipment. The company has recently expanded its facility by approximately 10,000 square feet and is adding new machinery, providing a modern, well-maintained workspace. Work is typically performed during a day shift (approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), with overtime as needed to meet operational demands. The dress code is consistent with a professional manufacturing and warehouse environment, with appropriate PPE required in production and shipping areas.
