Full Job Description Description:
Cates Control Systems is seeking a dependable, organized, and motivated Warehouse Supervisor to join our growing team in Wylie, TX. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced warehouse and manufacturing environment, enjoys being a hands-on working supervisor responsible for leading and directly supporting daily warehouse, receiving, inventory, kitting, cycle count, and material movement activities. This position is expected to spend significant time on the warehouse floor assisting employees, resolving material issues, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring production has the materials needed to execute work efficiently. This position is responsible for overseeing warehouse and inventory control operations to ensure accurate inventory levels, efficient material flow, timely receiving and put-away, and reliable support of production and warehouse transfer activities. The Warehouse Supervisor supervises warehouse personnel, manages inventory transactions and cycle counts, coordinates with purchasing and production teams, and maintains inventory accuracy throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Hands-On Warehouse Floor Support Work directly on the warehouse floor to support receiving, put-away, pulling, issuing, transfers, cycle counts, staging, and inventory cleanup. Assist Materials Clerks, Inventory Clerks, and warehouse personnel during workload spikes, absences, urgent production requests, inventory discrepancies, or warehouse bottlenecks. Maintain an active floor presence to identify and resolve issues before they delay production, shipping, or customer commitments. Ensure warehouse areas, receiving lanes, job bins, inventory locations, and staging areas remain clean, labeled, organized, and ready for use. Personally verify priority material movements when production schedules or customer shipments are at risk. Support forklift, pallet jack, unloading, staging, and material handling activity when needed. Inventory Management Supervise daily inventory operations including receiving, stocking, issuing, transfers, inventory adjustments, and material movement. Maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP system. Coordinate cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation activities. Monitor inventory levels to ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer orders. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, variances, and incorrect transactions. Ensure proper storage, organization, labeling, and identification of materials and products. Ensure all inventory transactions are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Receiving Operations Supervise daily receiving activities including unloading, inspection, verification, and documentation of incoming shipments. Ensure received materials match purchase orders, packing slips, and company specifications. Coordinate with purchasing, production, and customer service departments to resolve receiving discrepancies, damaged materials, incorrect shipments, or missing documentation. Ensure timely processing and system entry of received goods into the ERP system. Maintain organized receiving and staging areas to support efficient material flow. Ensure received materials are put away promptly and accurately into the correct inventory location, job bin, or staging area. Warehouse & Material Flow Oversee material movement between receiving, warehouse, production, job staging, and shipping areas. Ensure inventory is organized, labeled, and maintained for efficiency, accuracy, and ease of access. Coordinate with purchasing, production, shipping and customer service departments to prioritize material availability. Work directly with Production Control Managers, Shop Floor Managers, Team Leads, and Technicians to resolve material availability, issuing, shortage, and job bin concerns. Monitor warehouse space utilization and recommend layout, storage, or process improvements. Maintain warehouse organization standards that support inventory accuracy and efficient production flow. Team Leadership Supervise, train, and support inventory, receiving, materials, and warehouse personnel. Assign daily tasks and monitor workflow, productivity, accuracy, and completion. Establish daily floor priorities and communicate expectations clearly to warehouse personnel. Conduct employee performance evaluations and provide coaching and development. Promote a safe, organized, accountable, and team-oriented work environment. Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of department employees. Reinforce company standards, safety procedures, ERP transaction accuracy, and warehouse organization expectations. Identify training needs and support cross-training within warehouse, receiving, inventory, and material handling functions. Safety, Organization & Continuous Improvement Promote safe material handling practices, including forklift operation, pallet jack usage, lifting, staging, and storage. Ensure warehouse personnel follow company safety standards and proper equipment usage. Support and reinforce 5S, housekeeping, labeling, and warehouse organization practices. Recommend and implement improvements to warehouse layout, material flow, receiving, put-away, inventory control, and production support. Help develop and maintain warehouse procedures, work instructions, and training documentation.
Education and Experience:
Associate degree or equivalent work experience preferred 3-5 years of inventory, receiving, warehouse, or supply chain experience preferred Previous supervisory, team lead, or leadership experience preferred Forklift experience preferred Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, electrical, or industrial environment preferred
Skills and Competencies:
Experience with ERP system and inventory control processes required. Strong understanding of warehouse operations, receiving procedures, material flow, and inventory management. Ability to read purchase orders, work orders, packing slips, shipping documents, and inventory reports. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Leadership and team management abilities. Experience with cycle counting and inventory audits. Ability to research and resolve inventory discrepancies. Ability to prioritize urgent material needs in a fast-paced production environment. Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices preferred. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining floor presence and hands-on support.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, stoop, lift, and handle materials regularly. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs regularly. Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and warehouse equipment preferred. Ability to work in warehouse and manufacturing environments. Ability to spend significant time on the warehouse floor supporting daily operations.
