Position Summary:
The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for managing all aspects of outbound shipments, including preparation, scheduling, documentation, and coordination with carriers. This role ensures that all shipments are processed accurately, meet quality standards, and are delivered on time to customers or other company locations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily outbound shipments with carriers (LTL, FTL). Create and review shipping documents such as bills of lading, packing lists, and labels. Verify shipment accuracy by checking quantities, packaging integrity, and product labeling. Schedule pickups and communicate with carriers to confirm transport arrangements. Track shipments and provide delivery status updates to internal teams. Maintain organized records of all shipments, including tracking information and carrier documents. Assist with freight claims, shipment discrepancies, and damage reports. Work with the warehouse team to ensure timely staging and loading of shipments. Monitor carrier performance and assist with cost tracking or freight rate analysis as needed. Support continuous improvement initiatives related to shipping processes and efficiency. Process and audit freight invoices, verify charges against contracted rates, and identify billing discrepancies or overcharges for resolution with carriers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience 1-3 years of experience in shipping, logistics, or warehouse operations preferred. Experience with LTL and FTL freight processes preferred. Skills & Competencies Proficiency with TMS platforms, freight portals (e.g., Freightview), and Microsoft Office. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation. Effective communication skills for cross-functional and carrier coordination. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment. Basic understanding of freight rates, fuel surcharges, and carrier billing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates primarily in a warehouse. The role may require prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting. Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. may be required. The position may involve exposure to temperature variations typical of warehouse facilities.
