Duties Help The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordine leaders and/or supervisors, in accomplishing the operions of a distinct organizional unit and to perform associed nonsupervisory work. 1. Planning. Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operions. Establishes deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies. Determines skills, merials and equipment required to do the work. Participes in the initial planning of current and future work schedules and development of budget requests. Provides workload da, estimes, informion on staffing needs, and recommendions as the scheduling of projected work. 2. Work Direction. Assigns tasks to be performed. Explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Instructs subordines on new procedures or methods and provides assistance on difficult or new problem areas. Reviews work in progress or on completion. Makes adjustments as necessary to effectively and economically accomplish the work. Notes and investiges work reled problems and independently implements corrective actions which can be taken without affecting work operions controlled by other supervisors. Assures th equipment and meriel is available when needed. Coordines work with other units. 3. Administrion. Recommends and participes in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies. Schedules and approves leave of subordines. Sets performance requirements and makes formal and informal performance appraisals. Determines training needs of subordines and arranges for its accomplishment. Counsels employees on problems. Adjusts informal complaints through discussions with employees and union representives. Takes informal corrective action on conduct or performance problems. Inities proposals for disciplinary action where needed. Works to achieve the objectives of Government-wide programs and policies, e.g., equal employment opportunity and labor management relions. Promotes the participion of subordines in programs such as the suggestion program, cost reduction program, etc. Ensures th regulions governing safety and housekeeping are observed. Maintains production reports and records. Periodically reviews position descriptions of subordines for currency and accuracy. Inities the detailing of subordines to positions other than their own. Inities or participes in review and improvement of work methods, organizional feures, and the structuring of positions to elimine unnecessary positions and achieve optimum content in those remaining. 4. Performs the nonsupervisory work of the function as needed. 5.Implements safety regulory requirements. Ensures th subordines wear approprie safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. 6. Prepares for and participes in various types of readiness evaluions, inspections, and mobilizion and command support exercises. May be required to perform such additional duties as structural firefighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operion, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or to serve as a team member on boards to cope with nural disasters or civil emergencies.

REQUIREMENTS
Experience or training which demonstres the ability to follow instructions and to safely opere the type of equipment required to accomplish the duties of the position.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
Must have least 36 months Experience or training opering, maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting, and overhauling fuel systems and components. Experience or training initiing and controlling the movement and storage of fuel supplies by opering high pressure systems with a series of terminals connected by cross-country pipelines or multi-fuel storage and distribution facilities connected by a network of internal pipelines. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstres the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience th provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstres the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communice knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situions. Length of time is not of itself qualifying.
