Full Job Description Job Summary/Position Overview:
Warehouse Assistant reports directly to the ReStore Store manager and warehouse supervisor. This person supports all shoppers, donors, and volunteers in the ReStore and to help maintain warehouse functions and collect donations. This person assesses and processes donations as they are received through pick up or drop off acquisition. The position provides exceptional customer service to ReStore donors, shoppers, and volunteers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations & Donation Processing Assist with accepting, qualifying, processing, and organizing incoming donations from both drop-offs and pick-ups. Support the Warehouse Coordinator in ensuring efficient inventory flow between the central warehouse and ReStores. Help load and unload trucks in a safe and efficient manner. Stage and prepare donations for pricing, merchandising, and sales floor placement. Maintain accurate records of received items and ensure donation quality standards are met. Monitor inventory levels and communicate needs or issues to the Warehouse Coordinator. Safety & Equipment Follow all OSHA and Cal/OSHA safety standards and internal safety procedures. Assist in daily inspection and operation of warehouse equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified). Report any equipment maintenance or safety concerns immediately to the Warehouse Coordinator or Director. Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free workspace at all times. Customer Service & Donor Support Provide courteous, professional assistance to donors, shoppers, and volunteers. Help with donation drop-offs and provide tax receipts when required. Support donor relations by representing Habitat OC's mission with professionalism and gratitude. Assist volunteers by providing direction and ensuring a positive experience. Team & Volunteer Support Support the Warehouse Coordinator in training new employees and volunteers in safe handling, warehouse organization, and product movement. Promote teamwork, clear communication, and collaboration across ReStore and warehouse operations. Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of warehouse processes. Other Duties Assist with documentation and recordkeeping as needed. Participate in special projects, community events, or donation drives as assigned. Perform other related duties as directed by the Director of Material Acquisition. Skills & Knowledge Strong team player with a positive and proactive attitude. Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Commitment to maintaining safety and quality standards. Basic computer literacy and familiarity with inventory systems preferred. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum 1 year of warehouse, retail, or logistics experience preferred. Forklift experience preferred (certification may be provided after hire). Experience in a nonprofit or retail donation environment a plus.
