General Laborer - 1st Shift Job Description The General Laborer on 1st shift supports a fast-paced manufacturing operation by performing a wide range of hands-on production tasks. This role involves grinding, deburring, assembly, loading and unloading materials, and using both hand and power tools to help keep the production line running smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities Perform general labor tasks on the production floor, including grinding, deburring, sanding, and basic assembly work. Load and unload materials, parts, and finished products to support continuous production flow. Use a variety of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks. Assist with paint preparation activities such as masking, sanding, and cleaning parts prior to painting. Support painting operations by working around paint booths, spray guns, and paint prep areas as directed. Operate or assist with machine operation as needed within the manufacturing process. Work on a conveyor-type production system, maintaining a steady pace to meet production goals. Cross-train on multiple tasks and willingly help other team members in different areas of the facility. Follow all safety procedures, use required protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area. Inspect work for basic quality standards and report any issues or defects to the appropriate personnel. Essential Skills Recent manufacturing experience, preferably in a heavy industrial environment. Within last 2 years Experience performing general labor or general production tasks in a manufacturing setting. Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment on a conveyor-type system. Willingness to cross-train and perform a variety of tasks across the facility. Ability to perform physical work, including standing for long periods, lifting, and repetitive motions. Strong attention to safety and ability to follow standard operating procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with deburring, grinding, and sanding metal or similar materials. Experience in assembly work within a manufacturing or production environment. Familiarity with paint preparation processes such as paint prep, masking, and surface cleaning. Exposure to painting operations, including working around spray guns and paint booths. Experience with machine operation in a production or manufacturing facility. Comfort working in a heavy industrial setting rather than food production or distribution environments. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a door manufacturing facility that operates on a conveyor-type production system. The environment is very fast paced, with a strong emphasis on productivity and teamwork. Employees work closely with manufacturing equipment, hand tools, power tools, and painting areas, including paint booths and spray equipment. The facility promotes cross-training, so team members regularly rotate tasks and assist others in different parts of the operation. Work is performed on the 1st shift with a consistent schedule in an industrial production setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fontana, CA.
