Job Description

Job Title:
Material Handler Job Description This role is responsible for safely handling, moving, and preparing materials to support a high-volume production environment. You will collect and sort recyclable materials, load and unload trucks and racks, stage and deliver materials to designated areas, and help maintain accurate records of damaged stock and equipment. The position is physically demanding and requires frequent heavy lifting and consistent attention to safety and quality procedures. Responsibilities Collect recycling items from production areas and ensure they are handled according to site procedures. Sort cardboard and other recyclable materials from general waste streams. Sort through recycling and trash bins to separate materials accurately. Transport recycling items from collection bins to designated containers. Load and offload pallets from trailers in a safe and efficient manner. Stage materials in warehouse lanes as instructed to support production and shipping activities. Move materials to production and other locations as required throughout the facility. Package and unpack materials as needed to support production and inventory requirements. Examine items for defects, wear, or damage and report findings promptly. Maintain records of damaged stock and ensure issues are documented accurately. Maintain records of damaged material-handling equipment and report issues for repair. Perform any additional tasks assigned that support warehouse and production operations. Move racks from the IST stage area (pallets on the floor) to the loading rack. Perform systematic scanning for approximately 10% of the shift using RF scanning equipment. Load a high volume of racks throughout the shift, accounting for the majority of working time. Follow established methods and sequences of operations when unpacking and preparing components. Focus primarily on detrashing, recycling, and material preparation when working as a Material Handler I. Perform heavy lifting for the majority of the shift, handling materials and racks safely and consistently. Essential Skills Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds throughout the shift. Ability to stand for prolonged periods while performing material handling tasks. Ability to work safely and confidently on ladders when required. Strong manual dexterity to handle, sort, and prepare materials and components. Ability to work effectively under close supervision and follow established procedures. Ability to work well within a team environment and support team goals. Strong communication skills with the ability to follow verbal and written directions. Experience loading and unloading trucks in a warehouse or production environment. Experience using RF scanners for systematic scanning and inventory-related tasks. Experience with order picking, packaging, and unpacking materials. Ability to perform heavy lifting for approximately 95% of the shift in loader-focused roles. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with material handling in a production or warehouse setting. Experience with inventory-related tasks and record keeping. Forklift experience or familiarity with powered material-handling equipment is beneficial. Experience moving racks, pallets, and high-volume materials is an advantage. Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment with defined methods and sequences. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in an ESD-regulated, high-security production and warehouse environment. Electronic devices are not permitted in the production area to maintain security and protect sensitive equipment. Smocks and ESD straps are required and must be worn in designated areas to comply with safety and electrostatic discharge controls. Work is physically demanding, with prolonged standing, frequent heavy lifting, and regular movement throughout the facility. The environment is structured and process-driven, with close supervision to ensure safety, quality, and adherence to operational procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
