DESCRIPTION
BENEFITS QUESTIONS Description Definition Under general supervision, performs warehousing duties by shipping, receiving, storing, issuing, and delivering supplies and equipment; receives and processes materials, equipment, and supplies; schedules delivery and distribution of supplies, materials, and equipment to various locations; maintains a log of inventory received and delivered; and performs other duties as assigned. Supervision Works under the direct supervision of the department manager. Does not directly or indirectly supervise other employees but may provide work direction to temporary employees and/or student workers. Work Schedule This is a temporary substitute position on an as needed basis. Schedule will vary as needed for coverage. Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities are typical of those performed in this classification. Performs warehousing duties by shipping, receiving, storing, issuing, and delivering supplies and equipment. Receives and processes materials, equipment, and supplies; inputs data into the computerized inventory system; inspects materials and compares with the purchase order or other related documents to determine if specifications are met; notes and reports shortages, damages, and other discrepancies. Schedules delivery and distribution of supplies, materials, and equipment to work sites and other sites as assigned. Maintains a log of inventory received and delivered; monitors warehouse inventory, equipment, and supplies ordered and received; monitors shipment and delivery status and reports delays to management for appropriate action. Maintains alphabetical/numerical files or lists to record received shipments. Stocks supplies and materials in warehouse; fills and delivers requisitions for warehouse items; picks-up and delivers to specified campus locations. Stocks and shelves materials in a safe, neat, and orderly manner according to procedures. Operates a floor pallet jack and hand truck in receiving, storing, and delivering materials; loads supplies on vehicle(s); and drives vehicle to various worksite and off-site locations. Recharges electrical carts; performs minor maintenance of vehicles. May provide work direction to temporary employees and/or student workers. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications The education, training, and experience qualifications are considered likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities to perform the above essential duties.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of warehouse experience, including the stocking and maintenance of supplies and materials.
Licenses/Certifications/Other Requirements:
The employee may periodically be required to travel to various locations. If the operation of a vehicle is required, the employee must have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid California driver's license.
Knowledge of:
Shipping and receiving practices for handling materials, supplies, and equipment. Data entry to log and retrieve data. Computerized inventory systems. Recordkeeping and inventory techniques. Laws, regulations, standards, and requirements applicable to areas of assignment. Ability to: Ship, order, receive, deliver, track, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment. Input data entry. Use computerized inventory systems. Monitor and maintain inventory. Manually lift and move heavy objects. Operate/drive pick-up trucks, electric carts, and other vehicles as assigned. Sort and compare names and numbers. Understand, apply, and explain the laws, regulations, policies and/or procedures Maintains hard copy and electronic files and records. Prioritize work and complete assignments accurately and within established deadlines. Provide and obtain detailed information to/from others. Provide customer service with a high level of sensitivity, tact and patience. Exercise reasonable judgment in performing job duties. Perform and prioritize multiple tasks. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with all employees and others encountered in the course of work. Demonstrate a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL STANDARDS
The following physical and mental standards are identified as necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities. However, reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
Mobility:
frequent walking or standing for extended periods of time; frequent kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and walking; frequent reaching above and below desk level; frequent bending at the waist, kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders.
Dexterity:
frequent finger dexterity and fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard and other equipment, grasping to handle tools, individual papers, write and feel individual objects.
Lifting:
frequent lifting of equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting up to 75 pounds with assistance.
Visual Requirements:
frequent use of vision sufficient to read labels and documents; frequent viewing of computer screens; visual acuity to see close, distant, and peripheral objects; adjust focus as necessary; and perceive depth and colors.
Hearing/Talking:
hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone; frequent hearing and speaking in person and on the telephone.
Emotional/Psychological Factors:
working around and with machinery having moving parts; frequent attention to detail, and tight deadlines.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed indoors in a warehouse setting, and outside traveling to and from the college campus buildings and offices.
