This position provides critical logistics support for our busy warehouse operation, facilitating the movement of 58 million pounds of food in and out of our warehouse each year. Performs general warehouse duties that include shipping, receiving, distribution to member agencies, general facilities and equipment maintenance. Duties can vary day-to-day but generally include safely loading and unloading warehouse shipments; ensuring the accurate receipt, tagging, placement and re-stocking of all products; providing excellent customer service to volunteers, vendors and partners; and general facilities and equipment maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for safely loading and unloading warehouse shipments. Assist Shipping and Receiving Coordinator in inspecting all incoming shipments ensuring compliance with Food Safety and ACCFB quality standards. Sort and place materials and items on racks, shelves or in bins in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. Use hand-held scanners to record inventory movements, look up inventory, and perform other functions. Facilitate the accurate receipt, tagging, placement and re-stocking of all products to ensure inventory counts are correct and inventory is stored in the proper location. Perform periodic inventory (cycle) counts. Safely operate various material handling equipment including Sit-down forklift, ride-a-long and walk-behind electric pallet jacks, sweeper and scrubber. Complete daily and weekly inspections of material handling equipment; maintain cleanliness of assigned equipment. Ensure warehouse and work area cleanliness meets AIB and Cal-OSHA standards at all times by keeping shelves, pallet area, cooler, freezer, workstations and ACCFB campus safe and clean, including sweeping, dusting and mopping. Support a safety culture in the warehouse by following procedures in the IIPP. Provide excellent customer service to volunteers, vendors and member agency representatives. Guide and direct assigned volunteers in the daily processes of the warehouse and facilities maintenance. Assist Facilities Coordinator in the general maintenance of the facility including repairs, painting, and special projects. Weigh and log incoming food drive products. When directed, drive Food Bank vehicles to assist in the delivery and pick up Food Bank products. Acts as back up to CEC Coordinator and other Warehouse Associates. Performs all other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Competencies Ability to perform duties in accordance with the Food Bank's Safety and Injury Prevention Program Prior experience with material handling equipment (e.g. forklifts and pallet jacks). Current Forklift Certification preferred. Ability to complete multiple tasks within a changing work environment. Service orientation with the ability to provide excellent customer service to our member agencies and collaborate with Food Bank other departments. Ability to develop and maintain collaborative and professional relationships. Basic mathematical and writing skills. Available to work occasional Saturdays (approx. once every-other month)Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in a warehouse and distribution setting. Experience with the order building and pulling process, including reviewing orders, designing pallets, and preparing pallets for transport. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds on a regular basis. Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time. Ability to work in a warehouse environment with temperatures ranging from minus 2 degrees to above 90 degrees. Ability to bend, squat, stoop, kneel, and reach above your shoulders. ACCFB is in partnership with and has a newly established labor union for a portion of our staff. This position is part of the labor union OPEIU, Local 29. This is a full-time, non-exempt position working Monday - Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (7.5-hour workday, 1-hour unpaid lunch break).
