Overview Synaptics is looking for a Sr. Material Handler to join our dynamic and growing organization. The Sr. Material Handler supports daily shipping, receiving, inventory control, and internal material movement to ensure accurate, timely flow of materials across the site. This position reports to the Sr. Manager, Facilities. The typical base pay range for this position is USD $47,000 - $74,800 per year. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, equity, and other benefits. Note that compensation listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
Responsibilities & Competencies Job Duties Receiving & Customer Notification:
Receive inbound deliveries; verify items against packing slips/purchase orders; inspect for damage; document discrepancies; complete required system transactions; and notify internal customers when shipments arrive for pickup or delivery coordination
Shipping & Logistics:
Prepare outbound shipments (pick/pack/label), generate required shipping documentation, coordinate carrier pickups (FedEx/UPS/DHL/couriers/LTL as needed), and track shipments to closure. Ensure shipments follow established export control and shipping compliance procedures, including proper documentation and recordkeeping
Export Control and Trade Compliance:
Support compliant domestic and international shipments by following established procedures for export documentation, screening, and record retention. Escalate exceptions or questions to appropriate internal teams as needed
Inventory & Stockroom Management:
Maintain accurate inventory records; perform cycle counts; organize/label storage locations; and support inventory consolidation and space optimization
ERP / PR
Support:
Create and submit Purchase Requisitions (PRs) for shipping/stockroom supplies and services in Oracle (or similar ERP), track approvals, and support receiving/invoice matching as needed
Material Movement & Internal Support:
Deliver and stage materials for internal customers; support replenishment and distribution needs across the site Warehouse Organization (5S): Maintain clean, safe, organized, and audit-ready receiving/shipping/stockroom areas; support layout, labeling, and storage
Compliance & Safety:
Follow site safety policies and handling requirements (e.g., ESD controls, hazardous materials where applicable) and maintain accurate documentation. Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements, including shipping and export compliance procedures
Vendor/Carrier Coordination:
Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and service providers support shipment execution and resolve routine issues, escalating non-standard situations as needed
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for improvement on shipping/receiving and material flow; support implementation of improvements Support hazardous waste-related documentation (e.g., waste manifests) in accordance with EHS/site procedures and authorization Support sustainability activities, inspections, and emergency preparedness initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned Competencies Applies job knowledge and established procedures to complete assignments with minimal supervision Works independently on day-to-day tasks while escalating non-routine issues appropriately Good analytical, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to work within a diverse team Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with cross functional teams A passion for service, self-motivated, going beyond the call of duty Well organized with strong attention to detail; proactively ensures work is accurate Able to solve problems in in resourceful and effective ways Positive attitude and work ethic; unafraid to ask questions, explore new ideas, adaptable, and willingness to learn Qualifications (Requirements) Associate's degree in supply chain management, Electronics Engineering, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent 4-6 years of experience in shipping/receiving, stockroom, warehouse operations, or material handling Oracle ERP experience (or similar system such as SAP, NetSuite, Workday, Coupa, etc.) including creating/submitting Purchase Requisitions (PRs) Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple requests Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) Strong customer service and communication skills; able to communicate with internal customers regarding shipment status, arrival notifications, and pickup coordination Experience utilizing FedEx, UPS, DHL, and other domestic and international shipping carriers Ability to complete required compliance training within an established onboarding period (typically 30-60 days), including: DOT HazMat Transportation - General Awareness RCRA / Hazardous Waste Management (Generator training) Knowledge of export controls and shipping compliance requirements when shipping internationally or handling controlled technology Excellent time and task management skills Physical Requirements Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. (with or without reasonable accommodation) Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; bend, reach, and perform repetitive tasks Ability to work in a warehouse environment with occasional seasonal temperature variation This position is onsite Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Belief in Diversity Synaptics is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to workforce diversity.
