Recognizing the significant need, we expanded to 4 monthly pet food banks by 2014 under a fiscal sponsor. In 2018, we became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, dedicated to ensuring families have the resources to consistently feed their pets and prevent shelter surrenders. Demand skyrocketed during the 2020 pandemic, catalyzing statewide expansion of our work. Today Colorado Pet Pantry is the largest organization of its kind in the U.S., distributing pet food at over 100 monthly pet food banks across 35 Colorado counties and supporting more than 100 animal rescues statewide. Currently, we have 17 staff members and more than 1,400 volunteers working together to support our programs, staff, volunteers, and partners. About the Position The warehouse assistant will help the Distribution Center Team to manage the warehouse, including accepting deliveries, sorting pet food and donations, cleaning, helping to prepare loads for distributions, and to keep the warehouse organized. This role is about 24 hours a week. Typical hours will be 9am-5pm Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and occasional Sundays. This temporary role until August 31, 2026 , and potentially longer if agreed upon by all parties. Qualifications Strong communication skills Adherence to strict safety protocols A passion for helping people and their pets Ability to be flexible and to roll with changes as they happen Ability to repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs. on a constant basis. This role is very labor intensive. Drive a forklift, large 20' box truck and cargo van (non-CDL), use a pallet jack, and other equipment. We will train. Clean motor vehicle record is required Accuracy and ability to follow direction Ability to be proactive and see what needs to be done Ability to multi-task and to have conversations with several people when needed to coordinate the best solution for everyone's efficiency. Self-motivated & capable of working independently as well as with a team. A positive, compassionate personality. We work frequently with volunteers and the community, so a good attitude is a must. Additional Details The Warehouse Assistant is a direct report to the Distribution Center Director, but will also communicate regularly with the Executive Director, Warehouse Assistants, and other members of the organization. Pay:
$21.00 - $24.00 per hour Application Question(s): We are a statewide nonprofit pet food bank. This job involves communication with staff, volunteers, donors, and partners. You must be flexible, courteous, good communicator, a fast worker, and able to lift heavy pet food repeatedly each day. This is a fun role that is also high impact and fast moving. There may be times when we need you to stay late or work additional days, if additional work needs to get done. Right now we're posting the job as 24 hours a week.
